I got the R1 flash system and i really don't think their is any flash system out there for macro (or micro) that can come close what this system can do. I added another SB-R 200 for the creativity aspect of having 2 flashes on the ring and one off (sometime all 3 positioned differently) and i always...
This is my 3rd SB-R200 for macro work. I love these speedlights! Just beware, I bought rechargeable batteries and I had issues with the speedlights firing. Since replacing the rechargeables with non-rechargeables, they have worked without a problem.
The small size, yet sizable power, of the Nikon SB-R200 Wireless Speedlight allows for the most flexible and successful solutions for difficult subjects. Illuminating solid and opaque glass sculpture is a real challenge.
This is my 3rd SB-R200 that I'm using in my macro photography. Very happy with them - small easily adjustable, all the power you need for small work, good refresh rate and wireless connection.
Added for additional light to Nikon R1 system. Recommend adding if having low light issues. Identical to SB-R200 units that came with the R1 system.
I own the Nikon R1C1 system and opted to purchase one additional SB-R200 to allow more creative lighting. Such as two mounted on the adapter and this third off to the side or behind. These are wonderful portable units; I almost always carry them in my bag for Micro Photography work.
Bought this flash to expand my Nikon R1C1 flash system. Plenty of uses for it outside of macro as well. A very 'Creative' lighting system!
It would have been better to be supported with NIMAH AA size Battery instead of SR2
extremely useful and multi applications...great part of the kit..
This adds a third SB-R200 for my R1C1 set it works great for close ups
