The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED is an excellent ultra-wide angle zoom with an f/2.8 design, but it's on the pricey side for a specialty lens.

+
Very sharp. Ultra-wide field of view. Full-frame coverage with f/2.8 aperture.
-
-
Noticeable wide-angle distortion. Requires special holder for filters. Big. Expensive.
It’s not cheap but it’s a hell of a hunk of glass, so expect at least £1,200 on the street. It’s also not the most practical lens, though the 24mm is slightly more sensible. It is a remarkable piece of kit though, and a very desirable optic for extreme wideangle enthusiasts.
-
+
Excellent optical design, build, chromatic aberration control.
-
-
Filters can’t be used, though this is somewhat to be expected.
Nikon's fast aperture super-wide zoom lens gets the ePHOTOzine treatment from expert Gary Wolstenholme Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED NIKKOR: Features and handling Nikon's 14-24mm f/2.8 extreme-wide zoom lens is a professional optic truly deserving the extreme title.

The Nikon 14-24mm Æ’/2.8G is an excellent wide-angle pro lens, with only two substantial flaws: lens flare, and the inability to attach filters. The lens hood does work to prevent flare if you can put it between the front element and the sun, but let's face it - this is a wide angle lens we're...
Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S The fastest and widest of Nikon's full-frame zooms, this pro lens ($1,800, street) scales up to 21-36mm on the Nikon D300. Introduced with the full-frame D3 and unofficially matched to Nikon's 24-70mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses, this superfast, constant-aperture,...
Lets face it, wide angle zooms have their problems and have never been able to produce images as well as straight, fixed focal length, wide angles. Well, now Nikon has re-written the book on how wide angle zooms perform with its new AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED.
The Nikkor AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED N is a phenomenal lens. It is the sharpest ultra-wide angle lens tested to date. The resolution figures are simply stunning and unprecedented specifically at 14mm and that's straight from the maximum aperture setting.
The Nikkor AF-S 14-24 is an impressive ultra wide angle zooms lens that outperforms most of the prime lenses in its range resolution wise, with its fast aperture allows for low light shooting (or alternatively some object separation with limited depth of field) and is built solid enough to withstand...
This lens is a perfect example of a situation in which engineers and designers had more to say than accountants. If we start from an assumption that we don’t have to worry about the price and dimensions too much because a professional will understand that good optics must be expensive and must weigh...

very solid barrel and high build quality,, simply sensational image quality at all focal lengths and apertures in the frame centre and on the edge alike,, well-corrected chromatic aberration,, low astigmatism,, excellent work of autofocus.

noticeable vignetting at the maximum relative aperture,, slight flares with the work against bright light.

I have been shooting architectural and real-estate with the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED Lens for a few years and felt like I needed a little more "room" and space in some shoots. I agonized about this 14-24 purchase for about a year and finally pulled the trigger.
Most online review mentions the bulbous front and this is a non-issue since you can just cover with lens cap after each use. The weight is also a non-issue since the 70-200mmVR II feels heavier. The size is smaller than the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 with hood.
This lense appears to be a valuable addition to my photo equipment . I have used it many times in the one week I've had it. I have no regrets purchasing it. The only problem I'm concerned with is the warranty information.
This is a very nice lens and paired very well with my Nikon D750. Crisp shots and fast lens with very little to no vignetting when all the way out at 14mm. I do a lot of low light and night shooting and have been very pleased with this lens. Must have for landscapes-

Excellent quality, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Strong Construction, Ultra sharp
Amazing zoom lens. The image quality has a superb clarity that is hard to describe. It takes quite a good lens to impress me, but this one does. Unfortunately, the corners are not tack sharp until you get down to f 5.6 or f8.

Amazing clarity and IQ

Corners not acceptable till you get to f5.6 or f8. Needs VR.
This lens is not good for general use, including portraits. Before purchasing it, realize that it is a specialty lens with lots of visual distortion. If you are looking for a general lens, the 24-70 is a better fit. Also, this lens is not for the dx camera user. It works best on full frame cameras.
