Like the Nikon HG 10x42, which fared very well in our big test of the 10x42 class, the 8x42 model impressed us as well. First of all its perfectly corrected, flat field of view, sharp to the very edge, caught our attention; what’s more, its distortion is low, the coma – moderate and the brightness...

  • +

very solid casing,, good transmission,, perfectly sharp image across the whole field of view,, low chromatic aberration in the centre of the field of view,, very low astigmatism,, quite well corrected coma,, low brightness loss on the edge of the field,, low distortion,, very good whiteness...

a bit too high chromatic aberration on the edge of the field of view.

Nikon’s first 24mm f/1.4 lens ever is also its first AF-S wide-angle prime, incorporating the familiar AF-S package: a Silent Wave Motor, instant start/stop autofocus action, and the M/A focusing mode that lets you fine-tune focus manually while in autofocus mode.

I shoot a lot of dusk & night time city scapes,I had been using my 24-70 2.8, which has been great but really wanted the greater handheld ability of brighter glass, and the superior sharpness of a prime.

It is fast and it has little or no distortion that shows to kinds of photographs I take. Utterly perfect for shots of Mutant Vehicles at Burning Man. The best time is just as the sun sets, but enough to illuminate the background and show the vehicles self illumination, not much else, without the low...

I wish the focal length worked better for portraits because this lens is amazing. SO sharp, and I kind of love the distortion I get from it. I don't use it as much as my longer focal lengths, but in terms of quality of the photos, this lens is hands down the best I've ever used.

The Nikon 24mm f/1.4 wide angle lens is amazingly sharp when hand help in dark situations. Below is a photo taken at night, hand held, at a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second, an aperture of f/1.4, an ISO of 1600, Auto White Balance, and Matrix Metering.

I chose the 24mm f/1.4G ED as my first serious lens when I upgraded and bought a new camera even though it was the pricier of the other f/1.4s which I would eventually get. i ran into some auto-focus issues that turned out to be just me not knowing how to use my new camera which the people at the...
