Pair the AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G with the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G and AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G for a truly exceptional compact prime lens system. All three lenses offer the latest Nikon advancements and optical design characteristics, so you'll get consistent performance at each focal length:...
Optically, this new Nikon 28mm/f1.8 AF-S is excellent in every way with very good center sharpness wide open and excellent corner performance by f4. By f5.6 to f8, it can produce wonderful landscape images with corner-to-corner sharpness.
Handling and Features This brand new compact wide angle lens from Nikon costs around £620 and sports a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture, silent internal focusing and nano-crystal coatings to help control ghosting and flare.
Photographers who are working to a budget and who are considering the recently reviewed, full-frame, 24-85mm f/3.5-4. 5G ED-IF VR at £430 may ask why anybody would spend another £100 on a single focal-length lens.
It is fully understandable that full frame, professional 1.4/24, 1.4/28 or 1.4/35 lenses can cost as much as 5,000 – 7,000 PLN. In such constructions, fast and wide-angle, every producer tries to use the newest and optics, the best possible, closing it in a very solid casing made in Japan.

very good image quality in the frame centre,, good or decent image quality on the edge of the frame,, slight lateral chromatic aberration,, well-corrected distortion,, negligible astigmatism,, low coma on the APS-C/DX sensor,, quick, silent and accurate autofocus.

slack on the focusing ring,, very high longitudinal chromatic aberration,, significant spherical aberration,, high coma in the corners of full frame,, significant vignetting on full frame.
The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G is a capable but quite pricey prime lens that will appeal most to landscape and architecture shooters who routinely stop their lenses down or those photographers looking for lovely out-of-focus bokeh effects from a wider-angle perspective.
Those looking for a wide angle prime lens with a fast maximum aperture, who find the price of the current crop of f/1.4 lenses prohibitive, may want to take a long hard look at this lens.

Falloff of illumination towards the corners at wide apertures
I'm seriously happy with this lens. It's a bit expensive but 100% worth it imo. The only negative thing I can say is that it's a bit slow to focus in low light, but I guess that's expected. But for sure it's a great lens and if I had to buy it again, I would.
If you are thinking to buy or not this lens, I would say go for it. This 28mm lens is unbelievable sharp, fast and lightweight. Fits PERFECTLY on my D700 and D750. First I wanted to go for 24mm but for what I do 28mm is wide enough. Very happy whith it.
I love the feel, look and how quiet this lens is. Superb on the D800. Fast, accurate and images are sharp and beautiful in tone and contrast. I'm not a zoom lens type gal so this lens fits so many needs from landscape, to portraits...its just wonderful!
Love this lens. I knew it would be good from the reviews I had read ahead of time, but I did not realize it would be this great! At f/1.8 it's so fast that image stabilization would only cause an unduly weight-burden. Thus, the lens is also super compact, light-weight, and very portable.
Had the lens for about a year and hadn't used it much but recently put it on my Nikon D7200 for a recent shoot, flawless now is my go to lens..J
I needed a wide-angle lens that was fast and sharp. The 28mm focal length works perfectly for most of my wide-angle applications. The lens is well-built, fast auto-focus, smooth focus pull and the nano-crystal coat works great!
I have seen a lot of remarks on the soft focus for this lens. Wide aperture exposures with this type of prime really need the use of the center focal point.I know its not fun to re-compose but this lens does very well under those conditions. I have the same issue with my 50mm 1.4 on my D800.
