The Nikon Monarch 5 8x56 is an excellent pair of binoculars that would work well for marine, car, home, or astronomy use. For those wondering what the difference is between the Monarch 5 line and the Monarch 7 now that the Monarch 5 has ED objective lenses: if we were to compare the 8x42 Monarch 5...

These are the best darn binos to ever grace my eye holes. Best optics and love that 56mm objective. PERFECT!

Very sharp, bright and easy to handle. Just one comment, the diopter ring is very stiff, too stiff, otherwise, very pleased with them.

I have seen slightly better results from Zeiss and Leica but they cost 8 times the price. These Nikon binoculars are great value for money. They are small, lightweight and easy to use.

This review is given on the basis that the binoculars were purchased for daylight observation in good light. I'm giving these 5 stars on the basis of value and performance when compared to similar mag/objective dia binoculars from Swaro, Zeiss, Leica and Vortex.

This is a wonderful instrument, provided you know how to use it and how to properly set it... I'm referring to another out-of-the-world review written by someone that apparently does not know what a pair of binoculars is... ("it is OK for up to a km" ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? What does that mean?!?!?!?!?
