Slight softness at times

Nikon were the first to produce a dedicated ultra wide angle lens for their cropped sensor cameras and they obviously put all their experience of both SLR lenses and wide angle for smaller sensor (Coolpix) lenses to full use.
Superb optical quality, Compact and well built, Silent autofocus
Price, Slight pincushion throughout (Being picky!)
This is a highest quality wide-angle zoom lens for Nikon's small sensor digital SLR cameras, wonderful to use for landscape, travel and photojournalism.
18-36mm lenses have long been many photographers' standard short zooms for full-frame shooting. Here's the equivalent of that range in a 1.5X 35mm lens factor for small-format digital Nikon SLRs only. Small DX image circle allows compact size with constant aperture.
This is a great lens that fully met my expectations. The reason I gave it four, not five stars is because the quality of the photos are slightly grainy and blurry; there is also a loss of sharpness at the edges. However, for the cost as a used item, this lens packs a lot into that price.
I recently entered the digital photo world after decades of extensive film equipment experience (elaborate 35mm and medium format systems). I recently used this lens with a Nikon D90 to take photos at the Hill Air Force Base Aerospace Museum.
Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Strong Construction
Like the lens for it's wide zoom, and F/4 opening, but images are soft and you have to sharpin them alot. Sent the lens to nikon for that problem, but repair said lens was fine.
so nice but so hard to use is one of the lens either you love it or hate it I can see why If I have to paid CAD 1000 for it I won't buy it I got a good deal on ebay nikon need to drop the price if they want this lens to be more popular (they have the replacement already)
well build, very useful if you love outdoor and landscape photography
