The Nextbase 522GW dash cam is pricey, but it offers excellent video quality, a large touch screen, Amazon Alexa capability, and an SOS Emergency mode that could save your life.
Crisp video recording, Unique Emergency SOS feature, Alexa voice control, Parking mode, Sturdy mount
Frustrating power cord connection and flimsy, unconnected port covers, Requires a memory card
I vaguely recall the first time I had a dash camera for any real length of time, and it was a long time ago. I’ve not really used them ...
Dashcams are one of the most underrated tools humankind has invented to save us from our stupidity (whether unintentional or otherwise).
Quite simply, the Nextbase 522GW is the best dash cam on the market, with leading image quality and genuinely useful features.
Class-leading video quality, Great wireless performance, Amazon Alexa is useful, Emergency SOS is potentially lifesaving
Design still lags behind competition, Menu graphics look dated
The 522GW is very similar to the £20 cheaper 422GW, gaining a bigger touchscreen and adding a polarising filter. If those are on your wishlist, it's worth the extra, but for most people, the 422GW is just as good.
In terms of dash cams and what I’ve looked at thus far, the Nextbase 522GW is a very good dash cam. Although it doesn’t have 4K recording like last year’s 612GW, it at least can record at 1440p (QuadHD) resolution which is a step up from 1080p.
The Nextbase 522GW is a nice dash cam and it worked well for me except for the Alexa feature and slow WiFi connection. The camera has good video quality in day time and night time.
Built-in GPS, Expansion capability for rear cameras, Trip info in app, Mounting options
Lower the price, Improve connection speed between app and camera, Implement Alexa skills, Fix Alexa connectivity problems
I purchased this a month ago because I wished to upgrade my old Nextbase 312 after viewing footage from my friends 522. Video footage quality is remarkable and I would highly recommend the 522.
Bought this for my hubby as a gift and he loves it. Great quality and easy to use.
Been using it for a few weeks now, and am really pleased with it
This was a updated dash cam front and rear with GPS speed & location, wifi plus S.O.S function. It's only when you need the evidence that your be be glad you got itPiece of mind item.
Bought this to replace an older model because it is possible to link a rear view camera.
Bought this to replace the cheap pair of cameras I was using after the rear one died. Setup was easy and the results are exactly what you'd want - high quality video with decent visibility at night.
So I have been an owner of one of these for over a year now with full fitting and optional rear camera. The problem with it is that it doesn’t do anything. It makes all the pretty icons and noises it’s supposed to and does not report any particular errors, but when you actually need it, you find...
