The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio has a flexible design for both traditional and touch-based computing, with a great keyboard and trackpad and a bright 120 Hz display. But if raw CPU power is key, look to competitors that offer 8-core CPUs.

+ Excellent keyboard and trackpad, + Bright, 120 Hz display, + Strong build quality and clean design, + Long battery life, + Runs quiet

Competitors offer more powerful processors, Runs warm under load, Upgrading SSD on your own voids warranty, Expensive
Packed with innovative features, Microsoft's Surface Laptop Studio presages a new breed of laptop for creative pros who are pen-input devotees. One big quibble: Performance isn’t nearly class-leading.

+
Unique pull-forward touch screen, Excellent keyboard, Groundbreaking haptic touchpad, Robust digital stylus support, including magnetic holder, 120Hz screen refresh rate, Long battery life
-
-
Disappointing performance, even with upgraded Core i7 and RTX 3050 Ti, Only two USB ports, Pricey
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is the most versatile professional notebook computer I’ve ever used. After using this device for only a relatively short period of time, it’s clear that Microsoft made peace with the idea that they could, and would, create a multi-tiered laptop machine with a...

+
Elegant and robust industrial design, Top-tier display, Heavy duty sound system, Professional, powerful keyboard and touchpad, Deep Surface Slim Pen 2 support

-
Feels like Slim Pen 2 should be included by default, Display feels like it needs an anti-glare layer
The Laptop Studio isn’t necessarily trying to win over people who are eyeing a MacBook Pro or a Dell XPS 15 or even a regular old Surface Laptop. The convertible touchscreen and Surface Pen are the main reasons to buy this thing, and everything else about it is just fine if those features are...

A solidly built laptop that doesn't quite look like anything else out there, Bright, responsive touchscreen

Quad-core processor falls short of 6- and 8-core chips in other comparably priced laptops, Limited number and type of ports, Windows doesn't know what to do with the screen's rounded corners, Expensive, especially with a dedicated GPU, The Laptop Studio is meant to replace the Surface Book, but they...
Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop Studio is both familiar and unique at the same time. If you don’t peer too closely, you’ll see what appears to be a standard, clamshell laptop. The similarities to Apple’s MacBook Pro designs are undeniable — the rounded corners, the layout of the keyboard and trackpad...

Cool design, Flexible screen positions without major compromises, Fast refresh display with excellent pen support, Excellent trackpad and keyboard
-
-
Short battery life, Midrange performance despite top-tier price, Limited port selection
Whether you like the Surface Laptop Studio or not will hinge on whether you do creative work, it’s an expensive piece of hardware – and at 4 pounds, I would like to see a little more power under the hood. Still, as far as a Gen 1 device goes, it’s none too shabby.
Those looking to get the most bang for their buck can grab cheaper options from other PC manufacturers

Unique design, Premium build, Excellent keyboard and trackpad

Battery life could be better, Hinge system is limiting, Not enough performance benefit over cheaper Surfaces
“The Surface Laptop Studio is, finally, the Pro-level Surface PC many have always wanted.”
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is far from a gimmick. Even if it wasn’t a convertible, it would be a great laptop, with a solid keyboard, and nice-looking design. Add in the ability to convert the display, and you have a great product on your hand.
Has Microsoft crafted a capable creative powerhouse or another almost winner?...
So far so good. I have been using this laptop for two weeks with great results. I had some issues connecting an external monitor but got it fixed by downloading the drivers. Good performance and stylish case.
I've used this laptop for everyday daily tasks including using it for meeting and typical browsing. I've also used it to edit videos and I love the battery. I've been able to use the laptop all day without having to find an outlet.
I liked the laptop overall usability was great, the overall speed was also good, but the hot air that blows out right on the main arm that holds the mouse was disturbing because it left my hand hot, overall it was fine but I want something that will not heat up my hands, I am returning this and...
Fast, easy to learn and use, good battery life, overall a quality product. Only negatives, doesn't come with surface pen, no USB port (has several USB-C ports), and its FREAKING EXPENSIVE! Would recommend so far, only owned for a month.
Solid laptop, use it and it also powers 3 additional 27inch monitors, so have an amazing work set up now. The screen is amazing, its a bit heavy, but I've been working out, so the weight doesn't bother me.
Love this laptop. It's mid size, not too small and not too big. Also, super powerful and fast. I work on my pc for a living and it has to be top notch. This one I highly recommend .
Battery life is no where near what is claimed. Minimal programs opened and still consumes power at a high rate.
One of the nicest laptops I have used. Functional, powerful and looks great. Build quality is excellent.
A very underrated device. Well made - feels premium. Handy to be able to flick to tablet mode. Good enough to game on in a pinch. Has quickly become my go-to device.
Excellent... works very well
