The main advantages of our Core i7 SKU versus the Ryzen 5 SKU include Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, faster storage performance, faster CPU performance, integrated AI acceleration, faster gaming performance, and higher performance-per-Watt.
-
+
full performance on battery power, good performance sustainability, faster storage performance, no DPC latency issues, long battery life, generally quiet
-
-
hardware-based AI acceleration has yet to be exploited, no card reader or Thunderbolt 3, PWM at lower brightness levels, barebones set of features, no vPro or WWAN
This was meant to be it. After working with AMD on Xbox, Microsoft was going to unleash an AMD-powered laptop that would blow the figurative doors off every laptop held back by having Intel silicon.
-
+
Metal appearance is far better than cloth, 3:2 display, Points for giving AMD a run, Nice keyboard
-
-
Disappointing battery life, One side vacant of USB ports
Having being hamstrung on desktop, Intel needs a win and is eager to highlight its advantages in the mobile space, where efficiency, Wi-Fi capabilities and battery life are more pressing concerns than sheer core count.
-
+
15in 3:2 PixelSense display, Sleek, robust aluminium chassis, Outstanding keyboard and trackpad, Choice of Intel or AMD configurations, Enough GPU power for casual gaming, LPDDR4X and Wi-Fi 6 on Intel model, Silent at low load, quiet when pushed
-
-
Middling battery life on AMD model, Lacks support for Thunderbolt, Limited port selection
With a snappy, satisfying keyboard and solid battery life, Microsoft's 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 3 is an excellent ultraportable that gets the basics right.
-
+
Comfortable keyboard and touchpad., Excellent display quality., Long battery life., Multiple color and chassis-material options.
-
-
No fingerprint reader., Could use a few more ports.
The Surface Laptop 3 is a striking-looking laptop that may disappoint with its performance.
-
+
Elegant metallic design, Excellent audio, Bright, colorful screen

Middling performance, Slow SSD, Unimpressive battery life for the price
The Surface Laptop was a fine device when it launched, and the Surface Laptop 2 improved it quite a bit with the addition of quad-core processors. But both had their success hampered somewhat by some bad design decisions, which Microsoft has thankfully corrected with the Surface Laptop 3 family.
Now, that we’ve spent some time with both the consumer and business version of the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 the winner seems pretty clear. We expected things to be rather close on the performance front, but the Intel powered business version of the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 dominated most all of the...
“The 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 is a beautiful laptop, but its mediocre performance limits its potential.”

+
Thin. Portable. Incredible GPU performance.

Battery life is middling. Keys can feel mushy. Aluminum finish picks up hand grease fast.
The Surface Laptop 3 15 has a few highlights. Firstly, the fact that the cheaper Ryzen 5 3580U can come within just an arm's reach of the more expensive Core i7-1065G7 in CPU horsepower is a notable feat for AMD.
-
+
much better GPU performance than the UHD Graphics 620, bright 3:2 touchscreen is well calibrated out of the box, full CPU and GPU performance when on batteries, lighter and thinner than most in its size category, easier to service than the Surface Laptop 2, almost always silent, rigid chassis...

... but it supports Gen. 1 only, pulse-width modulation at lower brightness levels, slow response times; noticeable ghosting, moderate uneven backlight bleeding, no Pantone-certified pre-calibration, 8 GB of non-upgradeable RAM, no webcam privacy shutter, no fingerprint reader, difficult...
I haven't bought a new computer in 7years. The touch screen works beautifully. Super easy to get around and use. I'm 71 years old and not high tech. So was so happy how fast I got the hang of it. Did a transfer download from my old computer. It took everything but what was on the taskbar.
I have been slowly replacing my clients work desktops with a Surface and dock. One dock for home, one dock for the office. It works perfectly. You can work at the office, take the surface with you and work from home the next day with no issues.
I fell in love with my boyfriends Microsoft Surface 2 Laptop and just knew I needed one of my own. I couldn't find a Surface 2 so I decided to go with the Surface 3. Highly recommend for any college student. The design is nice and sleek, very lightweight, and great overall quality.
I purchased this laptop for my wife who travels frequently. Prior to the purchasing the laptop, she used 2 Microsoft Surface Pros and loved them. She decided to upgrade to a Microsoft Surface Laptop after exhausting the capabilities of her most recent Microsoft Surface Pro.
For the price, it's hard to find a better laptop for a casual personal/work-from-home user. Really like the sleek design and large track pad. While I personally do not like McAfee antivirus software, I did appreciate the included 15-month subscription to Microsoft Office 365.
Needed a new computer for teaching remote learning. Couldn’t be happier! This computer exceeded my expectations!
Absolutely love this laptop! I'm a student so I use this nearly everyday! So glad I brought it! Such a great investment for college students!
It is the ideal laptop that meets both my school and professional needs.
