You talked, Microsoft listened, and so here comes the Surface Go 2 tablet to leave you no excuse for not putting a slim slice of Windows 10 in your bag. The headline number is, of course, the $399.99 starting price.
-
+
Highly portable and well-constructed, Kickstand remains a big advantage over rival tablets, Bigger display and Core m3 CPU are both welcome, LTE option remains a rare treat
-
-
Expensive for the better-processor, Battery life falls well short of promises, Gets expensive when you add accessories and options

The Microsoft Surface Go 2 is a solid tablet with great battery life and a solid screen. The Microsoft Surface Go 2 finally realizes the promise of the original Surface Go. Its bigger screen, smaller bezels and longer battery life (with an optional performance boost from the Core m3 CPU) add up to a...

+
Much improved battery life, Bright, colorful (and bigger) screen, Thinner bezels streamline design, Excellent webcam

Performance doesn't impress, Type Cover has a learning curve

“The Surface Go 2 still doesn't live up to its endless potential.”
![]() |
The small tablet has updates in it that go a long way toward addressing the problems with the original Surface Go , but not entirely. The screen is bigger, and there’s an option for a faster processor, both of which make this a better computer.
-
+
Bigger screen, Core M3 processor option, Runs any Windows app
-
-
Very low performance ceiling, Disappointing battery life, Keyboard flex

The Microsoft Surface Go 2 is an excellent affordable Windows 10 tablet that features a premium design found in the company's more expensive devices. It offers a slight bump in performance over the original, but it is still rather underpowered – especially the base model.
-
+
Premium design, Affordable, Can run full Windows 10, Very good battery life
-
-
No Touch Cover or stylus included, Base model's specs are weak, Windows Store still too bare

PAT PILCHER finds all that glitters is in fact gold with Microsoft’s latest budget Surface Go 2 laptop/tablet hybrid.

S mode aside, the Surface Go is an excellent piece of hardware. While it doesn’t look all that different from the first Surface Go, it addresses many of its shortcomings. Battery life got boosted and users get a larger display, as well as faster performance.

Just enough power to perform and some must-have accessories make the Go 2 a genuine iPad rival
-
+
Has the gloss affordable Windows laptops lack, Surprisingly good fun for gaming, Good camera for video chat, Solid battery life
-
-
Can only handle non-taxing apps well, Accessories are pricey

The new Surface Go is a compelling second-generation device, but question marks remain over its long-term suitability for productivity, particularly on the baseline Intel Pentium Gold model.
-
+
Excellent, larger screen, Great accessories, Impressive webcam

-
Lacklustre performance, Frustrating tablet mode, Type Cover sold separately

I am happy that I bought this. This is a great Tablet but also works very well as a laptop. with dock, I can work a lot comfortably with it at home as it allows me to attach a bigger screen, a key board and a mouse. However, I wish I bout the one with bigger screen and more storage and RAM capacity.

Basic version of the tablet. Does what it needs to do without much issues.

As efficient as its big brother (Surface Pro) but with advantage of being more easily carried around. A USB to USB C adapter is needed but one of theses cost me about 3 quid. Recommended.
