Huge design flaw-buyer beware
I bought this washer four months ago. I really wanted to like it, but after four months it stopped working. After tons of troubleshooting, I found out that there is an internal filter that is only accessible from the bottom, and thus typically needs a Maytag repair person to come and fix it. The only accessible filter is the special pet filter, which isn't that effective. If you're willing to figure out a way to lift the washer to get to the internal filter or are ok contacting a repair person every few months then this washer is fine. Otherwise keep looking. Be careful of reviews that are for recent purchases, this only becomes an issue after a few months.

Good Solid Machine. Poor instructions.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this unit for a week so still have a lot to learn about it. The learning about it is really the weak point i have discovered so far. Then enclosed instructions are very weak in detail. Trying to find the manual on line is equally frustrating. While it is true that many people don't read all the manual, it shouldn't be that hard to find the instructions. Connecting the WIFI is a good example. Activating the Pet Pro feature is also not that intuitive and some clear instructions included with the machine would have been helpful.
In terms of performance, so far so good, but still learning.

Clogs with...pet hair!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 mo old Pet Hair washer has already required service to remove a small amount of dog hair from an inaccessible drain pump filter. In my research, I made certain the filter was easy to get to. The manual shows the filter as accessible, but the manual does not match the actual model. The top and front panels have to be removed to get to it. Service calls to clear a drain pump filter of pet hair every few months for the life of the washer MADE FOR PET HAIR is unacceptable. Do better Maytag!!!

OK washer. Stupid design. Not worth it.
Many issues with this washer. It’s the dumbest design ever, not being able to access the filter when it clogs (because it eill). The pet pro function is worthless. I have two dogs and the washer could not handle the winter/spring shedding off my clothes. In 2 months we had to try access the filter (THERE’S NO REMOVABLE COMPARTMENT) by removing the entire front panel which will not come off if you don’t take the top panel. Since it locks shut when it clogs, we had to cut a hole in the front to be able to fix the very frequent clogging issue. This design is stupid. Do NOT buy it.

We purchased this washer with matching dryer in February 2025. It has been a year and a half and the the water intake valve has already failed, and we are having to pay to replace it despite it being a known problem. On top of that, there was supposed to be an easy way to clean the drain filter, because it was designed for pet owners. If you look at the specs and instructions online, they do not match. You have to take off the whole cover, not open a drawer to clean the filter. It is ridiculous considering the amount of money that was paid for this. It is not removing pet hair well (we don't have large dogs) and is not easy to clean. Add to that, it is not working after 18 months.

Major Headache
We have owned this washer for a few months now. The very first load was great and we were enamored. We love the design of this machine and the internal light is spectacular, but it has been a major headache. Every load comes out sopping wet. We have to run a drain and spin cycle after every normal cycle, no matter the size. There are times it will just run all day and never stop, until told to manually. I cannot wash a fluffy throw blanket ( by itself or with other items to try to balance this one blanket) without it coming out soaking wet. Drain and spin never helps with this either. My previous washer ( by another brand) was "loads" better and I have major buyers remorse.

Worked for intended purposes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't want to give it a good rating which is 4 stars because of the one flaw I think it has. Overall the machine is great. It has the large capacity we needed to do laundry for 15 people in a vacation home. The one flaw is the door is symmetrical and I can't tell which side to open it on. The door is strong, but flexes if you pull firmly on the wrong side so that worries me. Likewise, at first you can't tell if the door is still locked or you pulled on the wrong side. The matching dryer has a the same symmetrical door. Same issue. But I solved problem for the multiplicity of guests by putting a sticker saying "pull here".

Save yourself some frustration!!
This machine doesn't even deserve one start, but since it is required to leave a review. I bought this machine roughly three months ago and if I could go back, I'd have never purchased it. The cycle times for loads take 2-3x times longer than estimated, even after buying the detergent Maytag suggests, Swash. I am now conducting my own experiment by weighing loads of laundry before washing and writing down what the cycle was, spin speed, water temp, estimated run time, and actual run time. The other day it took 7 HOURS for a load of towels to run! Save yourself a headache and DO NOT by a Maytag. I've never purchased Maytag products and never will again.
