After owning two Bogen Manfrotto tripods for years, I was excited to buy a new Manfrotto. Not happy with this tripod. The legs are sticky and difficult to extend and collapse, the clamps don't work very well, a variety of things loosen up, and the legs are too tight or too loose to pull apart to set...
I bought this tripod for use with a spotting scope, a chronograph and a camera. It came fully assembled and ready to go. I have used it in all 3 roles and it works better than expected. The next test is to take it on a hiking trip and see how it performs in difficult terrain.
Having used a smaller, lightweight tripod for more thhan 3 years, I had no idea how much a heavier, very stable tripod would help my shooting. I take multiple bracketed photos (up to 9 shots per bracket) in my real estate photography, so this is huge for me!

The tripod is far sturdier than my previous two. The center column's 90 degree pivot works great and was a major reason for the purchase.
Before purchasing this (and the accompanying Manfrotto head), I was using a rather vintage Velbon tripod. I had no idea what I was missing out on until I received this beauty. It's a little heavy, but as it's rated for 20+ pounds, it's absolutely rock-solid, and the weight is not really unexpected.
It's a Manfrotto...nuff said
I got this model 2 weeks ago and I am completely satisfied. It is very stable and easy to handle. The head is firm and precise.
Good quality but a few loose connections
On its third say of use one of the legs came off while the head was fully loaded. Manfrotto is known to be a great brand I bought this because of that. I don't whether my tripod happened to be defective or Manfrotto simply doesn't put the same effort for theor lower priced units, but I'm extremely...
