Don't buy this. Literally the first time we tried to pivot the center column to the 90 degree position, an internal plastic piece snapped and sent the center column, ball head, and $[$]worth of camera and lens flying out of the tripod legs.
I bought this tripod for use with a spotting scope, a chronograph and a camera. It came fully assembled and ready to go. I have used it in all 3 roles and it works better than expected. The next test is to take it on a hiking trip and see how it performs in difficult terrain.
I got this model 2 weeks ago and I am completely satisfied. It is very stable and easy to handle. The head is firm and precise.
I was using a a Manfrotto 195 with the same head until recently. I didn't change because of anything about the 195, but after a trip to Russia our host graciously let my entire family stay in their home for two weeks and treated us like royalty.
Steady mount for up to 300 mm DSLR. Did have some noticeable vibration when used in 20 mph winds, but otherwise good performance.
I really like this tripod. It's very stable, reasonably light and at a great price....i recommend it and would choose it again
A sturdy workhorse, this is my second Manfrotto tripod, love the new features!
My Manfrotto tripod is my first true professional level tripod although I have been in professional photography for some years. This brand and model came highly recommended by other professional-level photographers such as Eric Pellitier, Las Plumas Birdwatching Tours, Mindo, Ecuador.
Great tripod, solidly built and great functionality.
The tripod is one of the best tripods I've ever purchased. Comparing to Gitzo tripods and especially its price, the price isn't over kill. With Manfrotto, it's super stable, a lot of flexibility and the ball head is second to none. If you have heavy gears, you can't go wrong with this tripod.
