I would give this 5 stars without a doubt except on very simple design flaw that can ruin your entire photo journey quickly! The little (probably .02 cent) clip on the bottom of the extender popped off the very first time I used it in the field. The first time!
I have owned this tripod for 2 years now. Used it on many hikes and in blinds. I used to use a similar Manfrotto tripod made of aluminum. I really appreciate the lighter weight after a 12 mile hike. This is very sturdy and does a good job of getting low to the ground.
This is my first carbon fiber tripod legs. A step up from the cheaper all in one tripods I've used in the past and I would say well worth the upgrade. I've done some practice long exposure night shots in my back yard and it's night and day compared to what I was using before.
Over the last few weeks I have used the tripod in a number of settings. I have found the tripod to be very high quality. Some of my complaints are the same you'll see in other reviews of the product: no hole/hook to hang a center weight, lack of an ability to further hold the tripod down with peg...
I used to purchase to upgrade my aluminum Mafrotto tripod. The difference in the comparison between my old tripods weight and the new one is very noticeable. The leg height adjustments are very easy to make. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.
I owned a different Manfrotto tripod and loved it for the flip-locks. To be honest, I don't like the twisting knobs because I can't instinctively turn them the correct way. So I found myself needing to shoot from near the ground and needed a tripod that could go really low.
Recently bought this to replace the older version of the same tripod I had which got destroyed along with a remote camera in a factory shoot (not a good idea). This new version is even better than the old. The locks on the legs now click into place nicely.
I love the look, weight and the function, I am a wedding photographer and I use this tripod for jewelry and detail shots, I am extremely happy with this product and I own two of them. Highly recommended
I am a amature photographer who focuses on wildlife, mainly birds. I typically used the tripod with a nikon D300 with Tamron 200-500mm and a Manfrotto 393 Heavy Telephoto Lens Support. The weight of these items falls well within the 19.8 capacity listed on this site.
Good construction, sturdy and takes my large lenses. Not as light as other tripods but then they are much more expensive, ideal for my use.
