I use this for a large format view camera, it does the job. I would prefer a camera plate that was standard to other quick release systems but for my purpose this works. Head is fairly rugged and the build quality is good.
Initial impressions are that it's really easy to use and locks off tight even with a large DSLR like a 1DX2 and a large lens like the 70-200mm. Solid construction - goes well with the Manfrotto 058B for a good studio set up. The RC4 plate is also much better than the smaller ones I had previously.
Easily Adjusted, Locks In Tight, Rock Solid, Smooth Movement
Easy to use with controls that make sense and can be located without taking your eye away from the viewfinder. Complete workhorse that lasts, I bought this after using a friend's. He has been using his for years and shoots constantly, this has stood up flawlessly.
Only needed a head that tilted and panned, but this one had too much motion.
I have had mine for 4 years and it performs flawlessly, even when left in my car at minus 25C. Used for Nikon D700 and D800 and for Mamiya RB67. Really like the ease of of tightening and release and the ability to adjust the friction to the camera weight.
Excellent product. Easy to get your levels when tripod not straight and getting from landscape to portrait format. Read a few good reviews in camera mags and Wex website so thought I would go for it and have no regrets.
Compact, Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
None At The Moment
So far I have to give this head 5 stars. It's very easy to use much unlike the old head I was using. It stays where it is locked and does not move while locking. I can also use the plate from my old head with this ballhead.
Having used this head for over 5 years in all weathers, I can honestly recommend it as a strong reliable robust ball head, it has been thrown over walls and fences, covered in sand and mud in search of the perfect picture whilst chasing the light.I recently bought a GITZO ball head to replace this...
Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Locks In Tight, Reliable, Strong
Previously had a Manfrotto 055 photo/video head (see my earlier review) and really couldn't get on with it. When you only get a few minutes access to a place or person to get shots that matter it's important that the gear behaves like you'd expect it to.
Compact, Easily Adjusted, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
It would appear to be flawless!
