I have used another manfrotto ballhead for about 10 years and have found that camera and lens combination, even though under weight limit of ball head, had tendency to flex some as I have added larger heavier telephoto zoom lenses.
I was in need of a new ball head to replace the original MH5501-652 Ball Head on my Giottos Vitruvian VGRN8265 Tripod, over a few years the original head started to slip badly.<br />After searching and looking on the internet I decided to purchase this product and married it with the above tripod...
Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
A little on the pricey side, but it has worked out very well so far. Since I am doing more and more astro and macro photography, I needed a head that would give me the angles that I needed
Being a small person with not the strongest hands, I was looking for a ball head that would support a lot of weight and not require much strength to tighten. I thought the hydrostatic feature would make things much easier, but didn't find that to be the case.
This head is very strong, and can handle big lenses extremely well. Very smooth moment in all directions a pleasure to use.
Easily Adjusted, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
This head is super strong and equally fast at repositioning and locking down. I needed a head where I could make quick, fluid changes and then lock the head quickly. This head filled all the needs.
This is a great ball head - significantly constructed and very reliable as to holding a heavy rig. Using it with a Nikon 200-400mm and it supports it like a dream. Smooth movement when it's supposed to and lock tight when one wants to position the camera/lens.
This head is impressively stable and tightens without any drift. The action of all knobs except for the stepped friction-control, is real smooth. Really love the feeling of this head. I chose it because it was cheaper than the RC4 model and wanted to try the Q6 system.
