I use this with my Nikon D700 and flash mounted on it. The friction knob is turned such that the red indicator is about at the half way point. Now in order to maintain the grip, especially when the camera is set an an angle you must adjust the allen wrench screw that sits near the red friction...
I have the older, vertical version of this, and it works great, I use it all the time. I thought the horizontal version would make more sense, keep the camera lower, easier to rotate.
I had this for 3 years now. But I recently decided to sell it after using another ballhead (
Easy to use, low profile, customizable
very low weight/load ratio, big and heavy
Rock solid, quickest setup head I have.
Late night drive, noticed the moon rising over the mountains in the distance with some clouds rolling in. My camera gear is on board, do I pull over and set up for picture? Oh you bet I do.
Very easy to set up and gives you time to get everything just right.
Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
Love this device! The level is spot on. The only thing I wish it did that my pan head did is rotate 360 at its base. With this unit you have to use the grip to release and rotate. Other than that I like it.
Easy to set and rock solid lock!
Before getting this grip action mount, I'd been using a regular ballhead mount for my camera, taking still shots and videos of birds. The ballhead was hard to adjust and lock down.
I use this daily, portaits and landscapes!! The control of the head works easily and sure. I carry this with me on every shoot. So far no worries.
