I use this head with a Vortex spotting scope. It's smooth in motion and firm on the hold, keeping the subject in place in the scope. It's a no frills solid performer.
Exactly what I needed for my Out On A Limb camera arm. First time in the stand with it worked perfectly.
Good fluid action, bad handle position - can't be adjusted, very hard to mount the camcorder. I return it.
I use this to convert my cheap monopod into a much better monopod, with more flexibility. The fluid head is nice and pans smoothly. Good build quality. It could be more sturdy, but the price is unbeatable.
Overall happy with this purchase, but I'm a little bummed about the whole quick release plate omittance. I wish there was a quick release plate designed that would fit perfectly with this fluid head. Other than this minor/major issue, the product is well built and is very smooth.
Works well with my DSLR for video...It is a bit on the heavy side but given the price it is a good buy for anyone looking for an inexpensive way into DSLR videography. It certainly provides smooth panning action.
Would give 5 stars since the head is very fluid in pan and tilt movements. There is no friction control or hardly any but this is expected in this price range. Overall great sturdy head but cannot give 5 stars since I think a couple minor improvements would make it 5 stars.
For the price this is an excellent fluid head. It is very smooth even though there are not any adjustments for the pan and tilt resistance. There is no counter balance but it is very easy to do your move and tighten the lock without much jerking motion.
I have micro and mini Manfrotto ballheads for my DSLR (Digital SLR) camera and love their compact size, light weight and reliable operation. I wanted a compact and lightweight fluid head for shooting video with my DLSR. The Manfrotto 128LP is a good fluid head but micro is a serious misnomer.
This fit & worked perfectly attached to an Manfrotto 385 Center Post I installed on a desk. I mounted a Sony EX series camera to it. Stable works & fine.
