For some years now, Mackie have manufactured two ranges of analogue mixers. The more affordable was the VLZ series, the first three generations of which received plenty of praise.
Coming up on my third anniversary with this board. After a couple hundred gigs/rehearsals, I have ZERO problems to report. I uncase it, hook it up, and it works ... every time. I've used it indoors and out, under a variety of conditions. The Onyx preamps are warm, smooth, and predictable.
I have never had a mixer this big but it was very easy to use and works great. I even use it for recording.
Very easy to set up and run. Sound is very clear. Good range in the volume sliders. Not realy bass heavy like our old board was. I can get a much cleaner and better balanced mix.
This board sounds great. We purchased this board to replace my Samson board. Everything was easier to dial in. The monitors sound much better. Put all the vocals in a sub group and add compression works great!
I have owned a Mackie 1604VLZ for over 15 years. Mackie has always delivered solid products with reasonable prices. When I decided to get a board with more channels I did not have to think twice about what board I would buy, Mackie 2404VLZ4....
We built our Car Clinic studios in 1996 (Acoustic Systems made) and installed the Mackey 24 Pro board. Today we still depend on this very unit for our national broadcast...live every Saturday. Solid...dependable...easy...clear audio and outlasted every other electronic unit to date!
The relationship with Sweetwater is sweet. The Mackie 2404VLZ is a great value and a reliable performer. I was completely taken by surprise when delivery came a week before expected. The mixer performed 100% out of the box as advertised and it quickly gave our band confidence to play better.
