I recently spent a few weeks traveling with this bag and have found it to be well thought out and useful. I was able to double layer a few compartments and fit all I wanted in. The size is good if it was bigger I would put too much in and make it too heavy.
I wanted a well made camera pack that would protect my gear in both the westcoast rainforest and Africa, but also be comfortable to carry on my back as well. It has impressed me in both climates because it is well designed, tough, protects my gear, and has good ergonomics.
Built well - plenty of room - will hold laptop with ease in front pouch - could add a sleeve to laptop for extra protection but doesn't seem necessary -- fits easily under seat on most aircraft- fully packed -- holds the same as a Cinebag cb23 but way better all around and far more comfortable
A good backpack for carrying moderate amounts of gear. I can fit a d750+battery grip, 15-30mm f/2.8 Tamron and 200-500mm f/5.6 Nikon zooms, SB700 flash + batteries and other small accessories. That's it though. Can reconfigure to fit your needs and tastes as there are plenty of dividers.
Ideal size for my use. Can use it for airline carry on. Lowepro is the gold standard; pricey but a quality product. It won't accommodate a 15 mac book but it's larger brother will. But the 450 is too big for carry on. Trade offs, there are always trade offs.
Love everything about this bag but it really could have used a water bottle pocket. Seems like a necessity for those of us shooting out in the wilderness.
I dont like its material, its too hard, especially the shoulder strap and back design, which hurt my back and shoulders. I had my shoulder and back pain after using it. The entire backpack is too heavy and hard to fit for women using.
Backpack safety and comfort was the first thing for me. I can say that Lowepro Whistler BP 350 AW is above my expectation. The backpack is very durable and comfortable. You can feel metal around zipper and you know that your gears are very safe.
This pack is built to last. the thing that I like is great protection for my gear and still be able to carry (non photo) things as well. the outter back compartment is waterproof, so spills cant get to the camera area.
I have used this for extended day hikes, carrying about 13kg. of photo gear. It is well designed and flexible. I like the facility of strapping a tripod on either side. With a DSLR body and Nikon's holy trinity of lenses, plus a few filters etc.
