If you don't mind the size and weight, this LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 90mm f/2 ASPH is the best telephoto lens ever made. If most of your shooting is at f/2, f/2.8 and f/4, this is the best 90mm lens to get.

Fantastic anyplace you need a medium tele lens, and don't mind the extra size (55mm filters) and weight (475g total) compared to slower 90mm lenses.

Anyone demanding the smallest, lightest lens. For this, use the 90mm f/2.8 TELE-ELMARIT-M (1974-1990, 39mm filters, 225g and about $400 used) or today's newest LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90mm f/4 (39mm filters, 223g and about $2,000 new).

I finally returned to Havana to conduct a workshop for a few aspiring professional photographers. I took the 90 Summicron along to see how I managed my Leica set-up and the weight the system management I'll have when I'm working.

I got this lens at Ebay USA for 500 USD !!!! The bargain of my life ! Before this one, I used the M 2.8/90, which is also excellent and a little bit more lightweight. I sold this lens after aquiring the Apo 2/90. This lens is simply outstanding. Crisp, sharp, bright and not too heavy.

Mechanics, perfect optics from f/2 on !

None. The lens is worth every penny (according to the official price)!

The lens is great, but almost impossible to use unless you buy the magnifier for the viewfinder. With a rangefinder camera, you're not looking through the lens when you focus. This lens is the next to longest you can use.

I purchased this lens two weeks ago. Last year I began shooting a M240. The lens is superb, well made and lives up to the reputation. Though I haven't used it in any working situations, I shoot documentary work for NGO's, I have "played" with the lens sufficiently to learn how to focus, which...

My best piece of glass for portrait. Also very good on Sony A7x via Novoflex Nex-Lem adapter. Perfect quality lens, super sharp, true gem. German precision - like the best swiss watch movement.

I've had the pleasure of owning and borrowing some of the greatest short teles over the years such as the Zeiss Jena Sonnar 85/2, the Contax Zeiss 85/1.4 C/Y, the various RF Nikkors (85/2, 85/1.5), the Nikkor 85/2 AI, AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D IF, the EF 85/1.8 & 85/1.2, the Leitz Summarex 85/1.5 and...

This is a wonderful lens...but my 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit is as good or better with definitely better bokeh....although the extra stop is worth having when you need it... And the admittedly very expensive Pentax 85mm f/1.4 FA* AF is better for real world IQ. Would I sell it? No...

This is an amazing lens and I'm surprised so little is written of it. It has a beautiful glow when opened up along with sharpness. It's a lifetime lens worth owning and keeping like a family heirloom. I love it on my M5 and M9. It' is not heavy by SLR standards.

I think this is probably the best lens I've ever owned having been photographing for 27 years with many different types of cameras. This is a jewel that I'll always have. People say "heavy" but compared to an SLR lens it's not heavy.
