The Leica TL2 backs up its premium design and price with modern tech. It's a solid camera for the fashion-forward photographer.
Stunning industrial design., Modern 24MP image sensor., 4K video capture., Mechanical and electronic shutter., 7.1 and 20fps burst shooting., Big touch screen and dual control dials., USB-C charging option., 32GB internal memory and SD slot., Wi-Fi.
Omits built-in EVF and flash., Can't manually select shutter mode., Video frame rates locked in., Must buy accessory lugs to use third-party straps., Limited lens selection.
It goes without saying that a Leica camera isn’t for somebody on a budget. The TL2 retails for £1,700/$1,950 body only, and adding a single lens will set you back at least another £1300/$1,300. That’s £3,000/$3000 for something that doesn’t have a viewfinder.
Superb build quality, Excellent optical quality, Slick touch-control
No viewfinder built-in, Limited range of directly compatible APS-C format lenses, High price
The Leica TL2 is easy to learn, fun to use and takes great pictures. It’s solid and has the romance and appeal that is intrinsic Leica. With an MSRP of $1,995 (body only, silver tone or black) it’s not going to be everyone’s first choice.
Launched in July 2017 , Leica TL2 is a 24.0MP Advanced Mirrorless camera with a APS-C (23.6 x 15.7 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and Leica L lens mount. Leica replaced the older TL with this model.

No Sensor shift Image Stabilization, No Articulating Screen, No Built-in Viewfinder, Low Battery Life: 250 shots, No Environmental Sealing
* For everyone who complains Sony cameras like the a6500 have no soul, this is the antidote. * It may not be the most stunning thing you’ve ever seen but you can’t take your eyes off it. Wherever it is in a room your eyes and those of others will find the Leica TL2 .
So here it is. What do I think of the TL2? Would I buy one? Well, it is a continuance of a unique and different camera from Leica. If you want to read more about the system in general and the design ideas, I write much more in the 1st T review HERE .
The Leica CL has many of the same components as the TL2 announced a few months earlier, including the 24.24Mp APS-C format sensor and Maestro II processing engine, but there are a few key differences that set the two cameras apart.
Leica’s newest mirrorless camera is making a style statement...
Sharp images, Stylish exterior, 4K video
Lacks a viewfinder, Awkward weight distribution, Quirky controls
The Leica TL2 is certainly not without its charms. It's beautifully made, the large and bright touchscreen is one of the best we've used on a camera, and images from the 24.3MP APS-C sensor are very good (provided you shoot in raw).
Stunning touchscreen, Excellent raw image quality, Premium finish
High price, Poor battery life, No IS for still images, No built-in EVF
The price of the Leica TL2 is quite high, as the majority of the competition features a built-in electronic viewfinder. Although you do generally have to pay more for Leica cameras.
Unique design and handling, AdobeDNG raw support, 20fps continuous shooting, 4K video recording, Good noise performance
Short 250 shot battery life, Touch-screen controls may not be to everyone's taste, Chromatic aberrations, Price
Great camera. I love the image quality and ease of use.
