Everybody knows perfectly well that Leica values its products very highly. Although the 2/75 model is not the most expensive in theSummicron series, it is also not the cheapest one and you must admit that the sum of over 3400 $ might make you weak at the knees.

too „soft” at the edge of the frame by f/2.0 –f/2.8,, very high price.
I simply love this lens, it is small, perfect for many applications. The only drawback is the flare which can be rather prominent. However, I got used to it so whenever I end up in a situation like this I put my hand on the hood and extend it this way. Few shots were missed due to this though.
I don't very often use this lens but I would be very reluctant to get rid of it. I recently sold my 90mm Summicron (pre asph) and I don't miss it one bit, although it was a beautiful lens.
This is an amazing lens. And, for all its character, sharpness, rendering and clarity of micro contrast, color, etc... it is my all time favorite lens... for its IQ and appeal. Even though it is not generally my go to lens, it is the one lens I never want to be without.
The resolution is almost clinical in nature, even when opened wide. Micro-contrast is high and can produce very compelling textures on your subjects. Contrast is also very high. Colors are exquisitely reproduced. If there are strong lights hitting the lens, it flares quite easily.
Excellent lens , beautiful color contrast and ridiculous sharpness. Must have.
I previously wrote a longer review of this lens but I thought I would add some additional information. 1. Manual focusing with this lens is 100% accurate with live-view focus peaking. I find it much more difficult when using the traditional viewfinder. 2.
In the past few years, I have owned 3 different 75mm focal lengths for my Leicas (I shoot both film and digital). #1. I tried a Voigtlander 75mm 2.5 Heliar (not bad for the money) but a little too soft wide open for my taste #2.
