Wasn't completely sure about the 7x magnification vs 8x, but it turns out that that's not an issue at all - it's almost impossible to tell the difference between my old 8x42 Opticrons and this wrt magnification. What I do notice is that the depth of field with the 7x is far superior to the 8x.
