The LG SK8 sits elegantly and compactly beneath your TV, and delivers a clean, detailed and open sound. It supports loads of sources, including Chromecast, and is easy to use. Stylish, compact design, Open, clear soundbar audio, Lots of source options, Good value
Rather ‘flat’ subwoofer sound, No rear channel sound, Only one HDMI input, No 4K passthrough
The LG SK8 2.1 soundbar delivers a powerful listening experience that is great for movies, but can sometimes run into bass vibration issues when playing music with deep lows.
Powerful output with thunderous bass depth and solid clarity in highs. Wireless sub and expandable to wireless surround system. Adjustable EQ and sound effects modes. Built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant support.
Sub can rattle with intense bass vibrations.
Not a master of either music or movies, but the attractively designed SK8 handles both well enough to look good value at its newly reduced price.
Good value for what's on offer, Attractive main soundbar, Decent all-round audio playback
Subwoofer is a bit too shy with movies, No option for adding rear speakers, Limited Atmos success
LG goes big on features but comes up short on sound quality
Clear, spacious and room-filling sound, Practical size and design, Vast networked music features
Lack of sonic solidity, Needs greater dynamics and punch, No real sense of height with Atmos content
I purchased the SK8Y to upgrade from our TV's built-in sound, which from time to time became distorted or unclear depending on the sound mix of what we were watching. Long story short, it sounds great and we're getting audio detail out of shows/games/etc. that we'd never heard before.
