LG EG9100 Series 55"-Class Full HD Smart Curved OLED 3D TV

No TV delivers the same level of picture quality for the price of the LG 55EG9100.

  The LG 55EG9100 OLED TV's picture is better than any LCD or plasma TV. It's equally adept in bright and dark rooms, showed accurate color, and looks better from off-angle than any LED LCD. Its 1080p resolution is plenty for a 55-inch screen.

  Albeit the most-affordable OLED TV yet, the 55EG9100 is still very expensive for a 55-inch TV. Unlike most high-end TVs it doesn't support HDR sources, and some LED LCDs can get brighter. Its 3D picture quality isn't great, and uniformity problems can appear in the darkest scenes.

This TV is replacing a Sony XBR LED-backlit LCD from 2012. I use this TV exclusively for watching Blumovies (mostly Blu-Ray) and video gaming. An Xbox One and a moderate gaming PC are the only things connected to it. I don't use the WebOS or the built-in speakers.

  1080p (cheap, 4k is quite overhyped IMHO)Great for action gamesThe blacks are inky, the whites are blinding. Everything in between is detailed and accurate.This display has made me realize how much I've been missing in my few years watching a backlit LCD screen.

  1080p so you can see some pixels if your around 6 feet away. At eight feet I don't see any pixels.None of the picture presets looked good to me. You'll need to spend some quality time with a calibration disk to get great results but it's worth it.

newegg was great to work with. I ordered the TV on a Sat. evening, it was delivered by Wed. and had it wall-mounted on Friday. Could not have been easier.

OLED is the holy grail of picture quality. For now, it doesn't make sense to buy a 4k TV, and never will make sense to buy a 4k TV at 55" unless you will sit 2-3 feet form the TV. The $1999 out the door price on this TV is an incredible deal.
