Poor dark scene performance, Bad ergonomics
This monitor has been getting mixed reviews for Mac users, specifically the 2018 Radeon 560X TB3. Before I upgraded to the latest Majove release, it did not work. After the upgrade, my monitor works fine.
There's a lot of misinformation about this monitor. You can't use the wrong cables, ports, etc and expect it to work. I have an MSI GT75 8RG (1080 card with thunderbolt 3, mini DP, and an i9. It worked with both the mini DP (i used a mini DP to DP cable $15.) and the thunderbolt 3 it came with.
I recently got this because I wanted a 5k monitor that I could connect via USB-C. When connecting it to a brand new Macbook Pro (2018) via USB-C, the cpu flickers and the monitor will not work. If you use the PBP option it does (2/3 of the screen). I didn't spend $1500 to utilize 2/3 of the monitor.
It does not work connecting to 2018 MacBook Pro via thunderbolt. LG support was useless. Only works w/display port at a lower resolution. I do not recommend at this time until this is resolved.
I have a maxed out 2018 5k iMac. It has the best processor, it has 64GB of ram, and yet I get no connection when I connect straight USB-C to USB-C to this monitor. The only way I get any connection is through an adaptor, allowing me to use DisplayPort, and even then it's only 2560x1080.
