It's been very interesting to be able to test and compare both versions of the 34GK950. Ultimately the FreeSync vs G-sync option is what is going to drive a purchasing decision between the two models here.
This is a great monitor, it has all the features you would want for an ultrawide. Unfortunately for me LG QA is garbage. I had to RMA for very bad/overwhelming ips glow in one corner and it came back with dead pixels and paper left jammed in the bezel. Now I have to RMA again...
I like the HDR 400 brightness and screen crispness. This is an AMD Freesync2 display, but I wish it was g-sync compatible. The g-sync version is NOT HDR 400. I am using this for mostly non-gaming applications and it works well. I bought it for the sharpness and brightness.
If you can afford it, get it. It’s awesome. I use a 2080ti and the freesync is compatible with g sync, although I had to update the monitor driver before it would work. Colors are spectacular and comming from a 1440p 144hz monitor the resolution seemed noticeably better.
This monitor is the best UltraWide monitor in the market right now. Unfortunately it is subject to the panel lottery, like every other IPS. The first monitor I received has significant backlight bleed in 4 corners, and IPS glow in 3. This was despite being calibrated to 120 cd/m2 brightness.
The monitor I received needed to be returned, unfortunately. In areas displaying black or dark greys, there was a set of four lighter colored bands running symmetrically about the monitors horizontal axis.
#EDIT2: There's a firmware update available for this monitor! I finally managed to hook up the included USB cable (it's way too short to reach my PC normally) and installed LG's "OnScreen Control" tool from their web site, and it told me there's a firmware update.
I've only had it a few days, and played a few games with this monitor so here are my initial impressions. First, I came from a 32" LG 4k monitor, so the lack of vertical resolution, especially for tasks like viewing images and videos takes getting used to as they don't fill the entire display on an...
The monitor came with this huge pixel tear in it. I assume it happened during shipping. The box that the monitor came in wasn't sturdy enough in my opinion. I would have put this monitor box into another box for extra protection. But even then, if there are bumps or drops, anything can happen.
Best 34inch gsync monitor so far. I used aw3418dw from dell and pg27uq from asus. LCD quality is better than aw3418dw but not better than pg27uq. Personally, Pg27uq is 10/10 point at 1000 nit HDR 9.2/10 at 350nit SDR. Aw3418dw is 7/10 at 250 nit SDR. 34gk950g is 8.5/10 at 400 nit.
It is a very good monitor but there is a scratch
