Imperfections aside, the KitchenAid KSEG950ESS is a strong performer overall that would be a good investment for folks without a ventilation system in their kitchen. Just be prepared to shell out $3,149.

The KitchenAid KSEG950ESS slide-in electric oven includes a built-in downdraft ventilation system that helps eliminate smoke from stovetop cooking. The oven also excels when it comes to fast cooking.

The downdraft system isn't perfect, as evidenced by the smoke that still hovered in the air while I cooked a double batch of bacon. The oven's convection fan failed to evenly brown two racks of biscuits during my bake tests.
Very difficult to use. Burners are fast and hot, stove is slow and barely accurate temperature. When baking have to add extra minutes to get cookies cooked. Very imprecise temperature in oven. Loses heat very quickly.

Heats slowly, Imprecise Temp Control
We have had this Kitchen Aid Appliance for about a month now. My wife loves to bake. She has baked a turkey, roast, casserole, cake and several other deserts and they all came out perfect! I do most of my cooking on top of the range and I love the burners! The heat control is very easy to control.
Owned this for a little over a year. Love the cooktop features. The dual burners are perfect for any size pot or pan. Especially like the high output burner on right front. Great for boiling foods fast. The oven is spacious and I like the convection cooking modes.
Too long to beat up oven.

Fan is too loud., Heats slowly, Takes way too long to preheat. Why no preheat
I have had this range for 2 weeks. Replacement for an old Maytag downdraft range. Had the downdraft professionally installed. So far it works great. The oven is so much larger than I expected and I really like the slide out rack.
Not happy with this range. The fan is so noisy. Cleaning system does not clean at all! When using the oven the heat pours out of the front of the range. Front panel turns everything on when you lean across the range top.
Bought a downdraft Stove due to kitchen remodel and inspection requirements. Thus far have loved the convection oven but after a year would love to see the smooth top have infrared elements
My wife loves this new range, it cooks fast and downdraft is working great.
This oven is cheaply built but has a premium price tag. Problems I’ve had to date (1year in service): Oven does not keep temp and must be turned off and turned back on to engage heating element. Poor control on all burners- even the precise control burner. Keypad is susceptible to failure if wet.
I kind of like my new range. Looks nice. Love the roller shelf in oven. Don’t really like the digital on top front of range. Always touching it and have to cancel it out. Hard to clean because of that. Also the back vent gets really hot on the left side.
