I tested the teleconverter on a Sony G 70-300 SSM (original) andTamron 150-600 G2 with the Sony A99 body. The 70-300 works well. Autofocus is good. Image quality doesn't seem much worse in normal conditions, except there is rather more vignetting.
tried a variety of products and this works the best
Don't have any complains so far, the quality is excellent apart that you lose some light, but anyway.
In my experience, teleconveters generally don't work. This one worked as as advertised and I got great shots of the eclipse. I may buy the 2x converter soon!
This Teleconverter worked really well for me. No noticeable image degradation and gave me the extra reach I was looking for. Build quality is really good. The attachment points are metal on both the front and the back, the lens release works easily, the lens is stable with no noticeable wobble, and...
The last time I got teleconverts for my Sony A mount lens they didn't work, no autofocus, no transfer of info from lens to camera. I received this teleconvert today and it works against both my legacy a99 body and my new a99ii body!
All metal mounts and fits well. I have a Tokina 300mm 2.8 prime, and was looking to get maximum reach, so I purchased the Kenko 2X. Was a bit disappointed, just could not get a sharp picture with it. So I went to this 1.4X. Difference is like night and day. Very sharp pictures.
This works fine with a Sony A77ii and the SSM 70-300 G lens. Autofocusing works pretty well in good light, but hunts somewhat in dim light, i.e., twilight around sunset. Image quality seems good in good light, less so in dim conditions. All in all I am delighted with the performance for the money.
I wish it had better glass but it's solid and a good affordable option
I am not here to say that this is a bad or unusable product. For some, it has worked very well according to the reviews I have read on this site. However, for me it did not work with my Sony a77 Mark II; it constantly was searching for focus. Shooting sporting events I can not have that happening.
