I bought this for architectural photography. The design concept is perfect for this application with its panning top plate and all the built in levels. Great idea, but the execution is terrible.
The build quality is excellent. Very clever design, the handles are designed to fold down so the head does not need to be removed when you pack your tripod. I have used ball heads for years, and they're great for freely moving the camera quickly, but if you need precise control to get your camera...
This head is for those carefully composed shots. It does not have the speed of ball head, simply by virtue of the fact that there are two handles to adjust, instead of the typical single knob found on a ball, not including a pan knob.
This is a truly awesome tripod head. I have used the smaller version of his head in th past and really liked it. I purchased this one to handle larger lenses on a larger tripod (Induro 314 Carbon) and it works perfectly with th tripod.
Simply the worst piece of equipment I have bought in several years. The materials and build quality on this are terrible. I have had it repaired twice and it barely works again to the point that I need to replace it now. The movements are not smooth and the metal is very soft.
Simple to use and the design of the collapsable 'arms' allows for easy travel in a tripod bag. Perfect for shooting from any angle both stills and video
Despite the manufacturer's claims, this head is not compatible with Arca-Swiss plates. It may use its own Arca-Swiss STYLE plate, but if you have real Arca-Swiss plates, this head will not clamp onto them.
I use this head with my FujiGX680 and Canon 5DIIIs to shoot stills and video.Solid, compact, smooth and it has lots of levels and markings. The quick release system is also very nice.
I used this for b rolls on a documentary I recently worked on. The PHQ3 delivers all that it promises and more. Great for stills and even better with video.
compact, easy to use...steady..love it.
