Far less expensive than converting a camera to infrared. Get a 77mm and step-down rings so you can use it on any lens. This filter requires longer shutter speeds - typically 5-30 seconds, depending on aperture.Use Photoshop to achieve the colors or b&w you want.

Be aware it blocks so much light you need a tripod for 1-3 second exposures. Also, realize your resulting images are deep red and you have to remove the red in channel mixer out put red to 0, blue to 100%. The result is white leaves from chlorophyl reflecting lots of IR and black water and sky.

THOUGH THE IR FILTER DOES AS STATED IT HAS SOME LEARNING CURVES TO GET OVER. 1.CAN'T SEE WHAT YOUR TAKING A PICTURE OF UNTIL IT SHOWS UP ON YOUR VIEW SCREEN, MAYBE. 2. EVERYTHING MUST BE DONE IN MANUAL MODE. 3.

Purchased item to provide a different look to &challenge for my landscape photography. After a couple of outings, I can honestly say it is giving me that "infrared" look. When & under what conditions to use this filter provides a definite challenge.

I have played around with my filter but being winter there isnt any leaves on trees to make a big difference in the outcome. I have been taking water with old fishing houses and boat pictures.

A good way to get started in infrared photography. In some shots, I got a halo effect that ruined the picture. But that was the exception, not the rule. This happened on a LUMIX FZ1000, not on my Sony A77.

I spent an afternoon a few months ago trying to master the exposure needed to produce a clean image. The challenge is to frame the shot, then screw the filter on the lens and bracket until your exposure looks about "right".

I've never used any kind of IR filter before and wanted to get a feel for how the process worked, what I could expect and have a general baseline for whether I wanted to pursue it further. As an introductory product I would actually rate this 5 stars instead of 4.
