Overall, it’s come a long way since its debut. It quickly caught up to where the Echo was after a year in terms of smart-home control, and it keeps adding features that go way beyond skills.
-
+
It can be personalized to you, giving you info on your commute, weather, and calendar, Works with Chromecast, Answers questions and follow-ups fairly well, Lots of choices for music
-
-
Works with fewer devices than Amazon Alexa

Google Home is a breezy service that lets you create a custom sign-in page chock-full of news and widgets.
-
+
Google Home is easy to set up and maintain; organizes feeds within a clean page layout; integrates Google tools and third-party content.
-
-
Google Home offers only six tabs to organize content; Google tailors search results to your lookups while you're signed in.

The Google Home is a great-looking speaker with a voice assistant that's catching up to Amazon's Alexa, although it hasn't quite gotten there yet.
-
+
Attractive design. Removable color bases. Well-rounded sound. Multi-room audio.
-
-
Still fewer skills than Amazon's Alexa. Doesn't work as a standard Bluetooth speaker.

When I tried an Amazon Echo a few months ago, my main problem was Amazon's lack of an ecosystem. Amazon doesn't really make productivity apps—or any apps at all outside of media and shopping. Pretty much everything you asked "Alexa" to do got dumped into the Echo app.
-
+
The "OK Google" hotword performance is absolutely incredible. It always answers, and all your other hotword capable devices hive mind together to intelligently pick a single device to respond to you., A great media product. For audio there's a loud, crisp speaker, and a great mesh audio capability.
-
-
Most of my favorite voice commands from the Google app don't work—no reminders, messages, or creating calendar events., Do you want to know exactly what voice commands are supported for each service and function? Nobody knows! Comprehensive documentation for the voice input does not exist.

This smart home device is basically Google’s answer to Amazon’s extremely popular Echo device and for the most part they are incredibly similar. Both will help you with various tasks and answer questions about weather, news, sports, etc.

Stylish – will blend into home nicely, Dozens of features, Can stream content straight to your TV (YouTube & Netflix), Connects with other smart home devices, Customizable design

More expensive than Echo Dot, Average audio quality, Need Google Audio device to connect with other speakers

The Google Assistant has been bundled into the browser, added into Android, and squeezed into Android Wear: now, it’s getting a sleek object d’art for the smart home. Google Home is the search giant’s take on the smart speaker space, a direct challenge to everyone’s current favorite virtual PA,...

Google Home is fun device that excels at answering questions from the Google knowledge graph and integrating with Google services and products. Is it better than Amazon’s Echo? Ultimately that’ll be down to personal preferences and the services you need.

I’ve been using Google Now/Google Assistant for quite a while and have become used to the quirks of the fairly unimpressive Alexia third party interface I’ve had for a few months, so when a lot of allergy medication muddled my senses I decided to run to Target to get a Google Home voice activated...

Google Home is a great way to show off just how smart Google is, but it doesn't feel like an essential experience yet. That's mainly because it lags behind the Echo in terms of support for third-party services.
-
+
Tasteful design, Access to Google's massive knowledge graph, Google Assistant is conversational and context aware, Chromecast integration has the potential to be a killer feature

Speaker quality is only so-so for music, Limited third-party app support compared to Amazon, A handful of expected features aren't available at launch
This is a great product. It can hear me from far away, even if there's music playing or my AC is running in the background. I like that it understands everything I ask. Also, I connected it to my WiFi lights and can control them with my voice, love it.
I took a chance buying this device, because I don't own a Smart Phone, but have a Tablet with Android. That was enough, to get it working, and now it's my main source for music. It will play any song by any artist, that's within u tubes library.
I have really enjoyed the google home. I have sync'ed google assistant with smart plugs and light and IFTTT and am controlling lights with my location and creating custom commands and actions. The thing I might improve is the speaker, its not really a 'room filling' sound.
-
+
Easy to set up, works great with Google Mesh network and all brands of smart plugs and lights i have tried so far.
-
-
Not room filling sound, but that is somewhat expected
Bought as a Christmas present, and the whole family loves it. I easily recognizes everyone's requests -- even my 10-year old's. The "set a timer" feature is great. So is the calculator option. It's amazing how quickly she can multiply!
I initially had some connection issues with the speaker to my phone but for the most part, the setup was pretty easy to do with the google home app.One of my initial negatives with this speaker is that it has no battery power and must be plugged into an outlet at all times.
Easy setup but does not have a great variety of things you can do. Great for asking for music, news and weather. Tried requesting podcasts without success. No Michael Savage : (

Easy to use, Fun way to hear weather, news, music, Good sound quality for a tiny device, Lot's of google music

very basic commands available
Very impressed with the sound quality, fairly easy to get connected , we use it every day and are still learning about all of it's great features, easy to use and looks great in the home, looking forward getting it to make phone calls and control lighting and the heating and hopefully many other...
We are still learning the scope of uses of this item. We need a six year old to train us.
Mini is just as good as the home
