Love this tripod. It's a bit heavier than the Gitzo Traveler, but still light enough to carry around on an extended shoot. It's also taller than the Traveler. The added length is useful when you're on the side of a hill.
I have not used this tripod much. But, it is well made and it does the job. I intend to use it for nature photography and spotting scope.
Love it, works exactly like I wanted it to...
Bought to hold my Nikon d610 with 15-30, filters and holder.
Coupled with a manfrotto xpro 3 way head or xpro ballhead.
Incredibly stable even at full extension (which is enormous).
Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Locks In Tight
best there is. really long legs ideal for shooting from coastal rocks / uneven levels. quick to set up and take down. really well made.
Compact, Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Lightweight, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
I have five gitzo tripod, namely: GT1542 eXact, GT2543L eXact, GT 2540FL safari, GT3541L 6X Cabon, and GT4552GTS, each one has its own characteristics:personality and applicability, but the common feature is: stable , strong, and texture.
I own the Gitzo Traveler GT 1542T. It is a perfect tripod if you need to travel: it collapses down to fit comfortably within a carry-on suitcase. However I wanted a regular daily use tripod that would A) come to at least eye level, and B) was a bit more sturdy in situations like strong wind and the...
Gitzo has alway made great tripods, and the GT2543 is no exception. My only complaint is that this tripod relies on a center post to reach a height suitable for a 6 ft tall photographer. That compromise necessitates extra steps to make photographs near ground level.
I use this with a Nikon 300mm lens which is heavy and it handles it wonderfully with the Wimberley WH-200. I do wish I realized I was also going to have buy a bullhead to use it with smaller lenses and portrait.
Bought to replace the 3530ls which while rock solid went underu sed due to it's folded size and weight. Looses a star only for lacking a level indicator and need to buy spiked feet separately.
