After spending months and months of searching, reading and owning a few tripods, i finally found i have always wanted. I do not want to mention some of the other brand names that i owned and dumped on this review as i find no point in doing so.
I have been using a Gitzo GT3542 with a Arca Swiss ballhead for a while. I used it to hold my Phase One camera with 80mp Leaf back, 80mm lens. Great tripod but very large for travel. So I just bought this GT2542 XLS tripod and it perfectly fits diagonally into my carry on suitcase.
I am very happy with it. Very steady even with all legs fully extended. When retracted, it will fit into cary on luggage. You will need to remove the center column if you have the head on it. This is Series 2 which is much heavier duty than the Series 1, but you will pay much higher price as well.
Very Sturdy, excellent quality, absolutely love it. The only draw back is at this high price it did not come with a quality carrying case but rather a so called bag which is basically a piece of black rag. Very disappointing!
Love this tripod.so light and strong and easy to use.i mount my Leica 82 spotting scope on the gh2720qr head.perfect setup.
Sturdy as a rock, quality construction and materials. Highly recommend.
This is a very handsome tripod, living up completely to reviews by other users. It is extremely sturdy and yet light enough to still be easily carried long distances. This is now my fourth iteration on a tripod and it is light-years better in overall quality and versatility.
This is the third tripod I have purchased. The first, an aluminium, heavy. The second a cheaper end of the scale carbon fibre which has a little quality and reliability issue. Have been tutored by a well respected and very knowledgeable professional photographer who uses and endorses their use, for...
Durable, Great Features
Yes it is expensive, and yes it is worth it! I have found the last tripod I will ever buy! Solid, light and quality.
I upgraded to the Gitzo from a well used and abused Manfrotto, well worth the extra cost. Fine precision workmanship the Gitzo is smooth and quick to set up
