I have been using a Gitzo GT3542 with a Arca Swiss ballhead for a while. I used it to hold my Phase One camera with 80mp Leaf back, 80mm lens. Great tripod but very large for travel. So I just bought this GT2542 XLS tripod and it perfectly fits diagonally into my carry on suitcase.
Yes it is expensive, and yes it is worth it!I have found the last tripod I will ever buy!Solid, light and quality.
I upgraded to the Gitzo from a well used and abused Manfrotto, well worth the extra cost. Fine precision workmanship the Gitzo is smooth and quick to set up
The new GITZO GK2542-82QD Mountaineer Series 2 is a very good tripod system. It is a bit larger than the Traveler Series 2, making it more suitable for large zoom lenses like the CANON 70-200 and 100-400 lenses, which are heavier than smaller focal lengths.
I use this product for my digital photography as well as my for my 8x10 Deardorff. It is accurate and stable. It is light and portable. Everytime I use it I say to myself that it is the best tripod I have ever used.
Very Sturdy, excellent quality, absolutely love it. The only draw back is at this high price it did not come with a quality carrying case but rather a so called bag which is basically a piece of black rag. Very disappointing!
Improved over my older 2540, great improved locking rings. My wife didn't like my older 2540, but she loves her 2542
Great product, easy to carry and easy to use. Very stable even in a strong breeze.
After having a series of cheaper tripods wear out with about a year's use (and I'm not hard on my photo gear), I decided to upgrade. I chose the Gitzo Mountaineer over another top brand because the Gitzo offers a center column, which I like for the small height adjustments I need to make for my...
I needed a lightweight weight tripod. I use this tripod with a gimbal head and a 200-400mm lens. It gives a solid support even with the weight of the gimbal head, lens, and camera body. I'm sure I'll get years of use from this product.
