Garmin will likely introduce a Fenix 6 device some time in 2019, but the 5 Plus devices could have been the next numeric progression in the family. Garmin had to bring NFC payments and music storage to the Fenix family because those devices simply wouldn't be able to compete without them.

Attractive design with case size options for all wrists., Long battery life., Plethora of activities to track that monitor just as many fitness metrics., New onboard maps let you navigate without your phone., Newly added Garmin Pay and music storage.

Automatic exercise recognition needs improvement., Pulse Ox sensor only available on 5X Plus., Connect IQ store doesn't have many non-fitness apps., No LTE option., Can be incredibly expensive.
Garmin's smallest Fenix 5 becomes even more tempting with the new features. Yes, it's expensive, but now that it's loaded with topographic maps you're no longer skimping on big features by paying less. There's a gamut of sports tracking and more detailed metrics than you can shake a Fitbit at.

Full-color topographic maps, Music and Garmin Pay, More compact design

Expensive, No pulse oximeter (only 5X Plus), Sapphire version costs more
Garmin's Fenix 5 Plus delivers a combination of features and performance that you simply won't find anywhere else

Heart rate accuracy is hit-and-miss, Expensive
Let’s address the Elephant in the room to start with, $1149 RRP is a price that very few people are going to seriously look at. In fact I know a few elite runners who won’t even go to this level for their activity tracking – So this is a device that has a very narrow target audience.
If you're looking for an all-action sports watch that tracks everything you could possibly need, does so reliably and consistently, and lasts an age, then there's nothing better than the Fenix 5 Plus. Shame it's so very expensive.

Great build quality and durability, GPS locks location quickly, Accurate heart rate sensor, Music makes carrying a phone unnecessary, 10 day battery life, 100m water proofing

Sleep tracking is inconsistent, Battery life not quite as good as previous Fenix 5 or Forerunner 935, Loading music is cumbersome, It's undeniably expensive
This watch has everything that you could want and more! Sharp display, ease of use, and loaded right out of the box. Only thing I can gripe about right now is that the watch band that is included is a tad on the small side for my wrist.
Best smart watches on the market. If you are geek who would like to have really powerful device with tons of sensors and maps on our hand - this is it!
I had a Fenix 2 for many years and was always very happy with the watch. Having had the Fenix 5 for a few weeks, I can see it is a huge step up in terms of functionality, screen readability and ability to connect real-time to various devices.
