No electronic compass, basemap is very limited, small screen, owner's manual lacks detail
I use the tracks from my eTrex 20 to geotag images using GPicSync. The Garmin BaseCamp software let's you build 'adventures' which can display your track and even link images to the track making for a great travel show for your friends.
We loaded gpx files, saved tracks, followed coordinates, etc. every thing worked great. My only complaint is that I need to hit Google every time I want to try something new. Its interface hasn't evolved in 10 plus years. Time for a major overhaul.

Hard to use, Non intuitive user interface.
I had a Garmin Etrex vista for over 10 years, never a problem. I primarily use it for geocaching and marking trails and camp sites in the desert. I mount it on my dirt bike handle bars and review the data in the trip computer after rides.
Very easy to use, would recommend practicing prior to going out with the unit. The screen will not wash out in sunlight. Will get you right to your spot. You can trust the Garman name this is my second GPS as I wore out my Etrax 10.
Nice product. I downloaded the full manual. I am glad I didn't print it out as it would have been a waste of paper. You can only use this thing by playing with it. Trial and error. Don't rely on it in the woods, until you master it.
I have tried using online forums and cannot figure out how to use this efficiently. It takes so long to get to what youre looking for and I still don't understand it.
Works good. Has many menus and sub menus. It takes some effort to use proficiently. I longer learning curve than older models. Good color display. Good battery life. Screen a bit small for persons with poorer close-up vision. Quick satellite acquisition even under tree cover.
Got this unit to carry hiking to track my route and give me better details of distance direction and elevation change. Downloaded Birdseye so I could get better details of what is in the area of my hikes. Battery life seems to be good. Lots of information on the device.
