Really works with a solid feel and great features. I went hunting in northern Nevada. It was a bit difficult to digest the manual but once you are working with it, it is easy to get used to. I would like to see a one click lock screen feature.
I've owned many of these handheld gps's over the years.. This one as well.. I like it... nice to have camera that will take a good picture while hiking.. I hate to carry my phone or expensive camera while hiking thru out the year in snow, etc. This does an good enough job.
Tested few times, you can trust on Garmin, i just have a point to signal and is that touchscreen should respond faster, is just a half second delay but compairing with a cell phone by example (like samsung 7J Prime) seems to be slow. Satellite sensitiveness is ok even on a cloudy day.
I have had at least 5 Garmin GPS's and they just keep getting better! I plan on using the 680T for kayaking, cycling and hiking. This model with the touch screen and complete map is just what I was looking for. I also like the option to use AA batteries or the Li-Po pack
Having a dedicated GPS unit instead of using a phone has its advantages. My Garmin 680 can last more than a day of continuous use without having to recharge the battery. I've used my Montana in Hawaii, both as a pedestrian and as a vehicle driver.
A great tool for hikers and hunters. The detail in the trail and road maps is a huge help when plotting waypoints for a hunt. Even more so when checking your path through forests. No need to worry about walking astray.
Have used many GPS units over the years during my job as a Game Warden. Have a consulting business now since retiring and needed a GPS unit to map out shooting incident scenes. I have got to say this is the best and most user friendly unit that I have ever used.
Outstanding upgrade from my old 92 series. Screen is simple to use. Memory runs out fast. Writing maps to card vs internally can sometimes be buggy. Some high speed high capacity SD cards do not work. Check before buying SD cards.
We enjoyed using for maps of Florida’s off road trails!
Love the track-back feature. It got me back to camp after sundown in the middle of the mountains where I realize now I would have been truly lost. The battery features are incredible. Do purchase the additional databases - you won't be sorry.
