Major concern: Control Panel and Beverage
We purchased 4 GE Profile appliances in the last few weeks. We have had GE products in our home for many years. My major concern, however, is the view ability of the control panel features with contrast colors - grey/black/beige combo - and font size - making it difficult to read. Other reviews have made the same remarks. GE touts their Universal Design concept (UDC) on the website stating that it designs products suitable for a wide range of physical and mental abilities and impairments. I encourage the UDC team to address this concern as It designs new microwaves. Also, heating beverages takes more time than needed. That is also addressed in several reviews.

Very disappointed!!
I bought this item December, 2016. Then in January, 2017, I found one day it has no power. It was under warranty. So, one service professional came after a few days to check. He figured out some issue but didn't fix it that day itself. He came back another day to fix it. But, still we were satisfied as it was fixed and we felt it won't happen again. Yesterday it happened again!! No power and no display. How can a good product stop working twice within a year? I am very disappointed with this product and I am not going to recommend this GE Profile microwave to anybody.

Nice microwave, but......
I bought this microwave to replace an old GE Profile that was making noises no microwave should make! Basically, I like it and it works very well. I like the darker interior that is easier to clean than the old one. However, the reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the jury is still out on the dial control. So far, I prefer the old number key pad. Microwave times can be set only in 15 second increments - nothing in between. I’m not sure why GE had to complicate what I think was an easier, more functional system. Also, the sensor cooking choices are more limited than the selections on my old microwave.

Not So Much
We have used this item for about a month now. It was supposed to be an upgrade to the appliances in our new home. Not so Much! The control panel is difficult to read and the controls are awkward and counter-intuitive. You cannot simply enter the cooking time, but must dial it up in increments of 15 seconds. After that, you are "allowed" to dial up the cooking rate from 1-10. Now you can press start and the fun begins. This is the noisiest microwave I have ever seen. It vibrates and rattles. The cheap little filters on the underside keep falling off. I wish the builder had offered Kitchen Aid as an alternative.

Beware Keypad Shortcircuiting
I just read the response to my review regarding the short-circuiting of the keypad on my microwave. You misunderstood my review. There was no part of my microwave that I was using while making jam, except the exhaust fan and light. I was cooking jam on my stove/oven which is immediately beneath the over-the-counter microwave. I had the exhaust on on the micro-wave to pull the steam/heat that was being generated from the canning pot that was on my stove. I am not stupid enough, nor do I think it is possible to make jam in a microwave. You have my email address. Feel free to contact me if there is still some misunderstanding.

Doneness sensor is worth the premium
Installation to replace a 25 year old ancestor was easy. Our plan to use recirculation rather than outside venting was abandoned with a trial of heating olive oil to the smoking point. In our setting that added another day to run a metal vent through six right angle turns to an under eve vent where my grandson can check what’s cooking. Vented, the unit can hide major scorching events without firing thd smoke detector, and normal cooking is easily tamed with the lowest and quietist of the four fan speeds. This is a very reasonable alternative to a dedicated exhaust hood, as well as a smoothly functioning, well controlled microwave.

Unable to read cooking controls
The Black ground with the light gold lettering is very hard to read. If I knew that it was this poor I would have purchased another band name. Resetting the time for daylight savings time is an adventure. We purchased a GE microwave since our last one lasted 12 years so we went back to get a new one. We are disappointed. Why did you not backlight the cooking panel or put white print on black. I'm not an engineer but if you try to use the cooking panel we must put on all the kitchen lights or use a flashlight. Did anyone test this problem with senior citizens?

Fast cooking time!
I replaced what I thought was a “good” microwave, but this new one really cooks/heats food very quickly. I seem to always use the lower amount of time on suggested cooking time ranges. That’s a plus! I do, however, kind of wish I had gone with a digital model. I have been able to figure out most of the directions relating to the dial time set, but there seems to be an option only to set times in 15 second increments. So you can’t heat something for 20 seconds, only for 15 or 30 seconds. And it does take several steps to set for time/power/start. But it does seem to work well, and is a decent option for those on a budget.
