Looks aren't everything
Disappointed. Bought this hood as it was the only option to match my full slate appliance purchase. Fan only pulls from one side since installation and SO loud. We told the tech at the time of installation and he didn't feel it was a problem so don't tell people to make a service call and waste more money. Light bulbs are HOT immediately. Not sure why they chose halogen. And next to impossible to change as other reviews said. After finally getting one changed both didn't work! Husband took it apart and found main wire no longer connected and fixed it. Now they work again. Poor design from wiring to lights to exhaust. Disappointed.

Love the New Hood
Our Hood failed in March and we contacted our home warranty Company and a service Technician came out and had to order parts. The parts never came and finally our home warranty company contacted us and offered us several choices for replacement. The ones we liked were out of stock and we waited until the one we liked was available and placed our order. The hood was delivered promptly by the GE Supplier and we were contacted by the installer last Friday and they set the appointment for Tuesday, June, 18. They were very courteous and professional and performed the job promptly. We love this new hood and look forward to many years of service.

the light bulbs are very difficult to change
I just replaced an older hood because the lights no longer worked, so I was excited to get this one. I am 78 years old, so I like to plan ahead. Immediately I wanted to check what kind of bulbs to have on hand when one of them ultimately fails. Who knows. Maybe that'll never happen in my life time. Anynow, I found the bulbs extraordinarily difficult to get out. They are those prong type, which is fine. But, I could not remove them. Finally, I got my daughter-in-law to do it. But, even she had a hard time. They look nice, flush with the surface. But, I'll bet the engineers who designed it never had to change one.

Poorly Designed - Both Light Fixtures Broken
Bad: The halogen bulbs heat up, which I guess I can live with. When they burn out (and that's often), when changing the bulb you have to push up slightly. Well I think that since they get so hot, it causes the plastic to become brittle. Bottom line, after 2 years the last 2 bulb changes - slightly pushing up to turn bulb to remove has broken the plastic of the socket, so now both sockets just dangle. There is nothing now to hold the sockets and nothing to push against to insert the new bulb - and even if I could, the socket now has nothing holding it up. Trash. I spent a little more for this - what a waste. Don't buy this unit.
Ok: It looks fine, and the vent worked ok.

Attractive Hood Range but...
This is an attractive range hood that compliments our kitchens accoutrements well but, I was left wondering why the hoods blower was designed on the left side. Our GE stove has the "power boil burner" on the right side, which is the primary burner we use, so when cooking the blower is not as effective as it is on the left side of the stove top. They should consider a center or dual blower design to accommodate the entire stove top. The installation took more then 10 minutes (about 1 1/2 hrs) as I had to add wooden slats under the cabinet to secure the range hood properly. Once the wooden slats were installed, the hood install went quickly.

Reasonable quality
It looks good, it sounds as I expected for the price and the stats. The halogen lights are a poor choice. Similar LED bulbs are longer so they don't fit. The worst thing is the instructions do not match the product. Instructions say use screw F. There is no F. Another place it tells you to insert a machine thread screw into a hole impossibly too small. The predrilled holes in the hood don't match the damper holes. In the drawing the left bracket is on the right and the right on the left. How can they give us such poor instructions? I am a competent electrician, handy with installing products. If you are not, try another product.

Good for the price
So far the vent has been working well. I replaced the included halogen light bulbs with LED type to keep from heating up while in use. Unit shakes a little at high and boost settings. I even secured unit with extra washers at the screw points. One thing I was concerned with is that the vent fan is situated on one side of the unit. Right above the left venting filter. The right side seems to not have as good venting because the fan is closed off on the left. So only the left sucks up smog/steam/heat efficiently. The right side vent filter is more like esthetic than function. Not sure if GE has a fix for this.

Unacceptable air draw
There is no air draw on the right side of the vent, NONE! Instead of putting the motor in the center or one on each side, like all hood vent manufacturers, GE put their fan motor all the way to the left and the mesh filter basically sits right against it so that it can only produce suction on that side. Any reasonable person would expect a hood vent to pull air on both sides. Actually, GE's website states "The suction should hold a tissue in place. Air draw is equal on both sides." Neither statement is true on this hood vent.
