I have owned and used this set since January 2023. This morning, the lid to the washer won’t lock. Basically, the small part that locks the lid doesn’t work any more. This is a problem because it causes the washer to continuously fill with water, but the wash cycle won’t start. GE offers a one year warranty, which is their way of saying “we can guarantee this will work only for one year.” When you purchase an appliance set like this, you may expect it to last many years. The poor design and cheap construction of this set precludes that expectation, which GE fully knows. Do yourself a favor and purchase a set from a better company.

Terrible Design
My family was in the washer service business for 40 years, my father always preferred GE washers and dryers. I can not tell you how disappointed I am in the stack 24" set I just installed. I hate the fact that there is no water level adjustment (there is on the 27") the predetermined water level is awful. The agitation is poor and does not get clothes clean. There is not enough water in the tub to do more than just get the clothes wet. If it had not been such an effort to get it installed in my condo, and my contractor had not ordered it through an appliance dealer, and I had not gotten rid of my other piece of equipment it would be back in their store.

lint filter poorly designed;door stuck closed
The lint filter is on the dryer door. You swing open the door and lint (mostly dog hair) is all over the inside of the door and when you slide the cover off to remove the filter, lint falls on to the carpet outside the laundry closet before I even take the filter out. And then more falls out. Really annoying. I usually end up just vacuuming the door and lint filter (and floor!), since the vacuum and attachments are right next to it. Wish we had considered lint filter location when we bought it! I also don't think it gets lint off clothes very well to begin with. And the dryer door gets stuck closed and it's just over 3 months old!!! Calling for repair now...

Can't get enough water in drum to cover clothese
Messed up and got the model numbers mixed up - we wanted other model that you can control water levels -this is bad design model because you can't control water levels; water doesn't cover clothes which the reviews for this model state that and were correct; would have given a 0 for that reason for this model- - will buy something else as soon as can afford - just consider money wasted as learning experience; couldn't return because didn't notice it was wrong until they hooked everything up

No frills, works great!
Make no mistake, this is a no frills washer and dryer. It doesn't have any bells or whistles, but is exactly what I wanted. I live in a small condo and the 24" unit is perfect for my needs. I can fit a queen size sheet set in the washer with no problems. As other reviewers stated, it is a little on the loud side, so be prepared for that. Also, the addition of a buzzer or some type of signal that the dryer has completed would be great. All in all, I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend this unit to a small family needing a no frills laundry unit. Clothes are clean and dry when the respective cycles finish.

Nice basic stack set
Nice basic stack washer and dryer. Washer cleaned everything well and the dryer actually DRIED the clothes and linens, no matter the size of the load or the temperature selected. This is a welcome change from the worthless condensing dryer this unit replaced. My only complaint about the unit, and the reason I only gave it 4 stars, is that it doesn't have any kind of a beep or bell to mark the end of the wash or dry cycle. Come on GE, talk about cheaping out on a basic feature! Otherwise, I highly recommend this product and this minor failing should not deter a purchase, just be aware that you'll need to listen carefully for the cycles to finish.

Ways to make it better.
Sturdy & well built. Suggestions: Allow the washer to fill before closing/locking the lid to see if any more items can be added. Also, allow the dryer lint trap to be removed and cleaned over a trash can so the lint doesn't fall on the floor. Also, design the top of the unit as a flat surface. These are small apartments and the top could be a 4 ft by 4 ft shelf. Also, have a retainer that keeps the dryer door open while transferring newly cleaned clothes. Currently, the door swings partially shut and hits the user in the back when standing up with newly washed items. Thank you for soliciting suggestions.

Kind of noisy but does the job.
The washer/dryer does work well. It's just a bit noisy. Both the washer and the dryer parts are noisy. It took some getting used to. The spin cycle takes longer than my old washer but I read in the instructions that it's normal, for faster drying of the clothes. It is the same size as my old one on the outside, but has much more volume on the inside for both the washer and the dryer. The lint trap does spill some lint downwards, sometimes, when the door to the dryer is opened. I was disappointed that the bottom of the wash tub is plastic and so is part of the inside of the dryer. However it does a good job at both washing and drying.
