Heat Sensor rods catching/ripping clothes
I second Kell2's review. Same issue with the lint trap. Tech replaced entire trap today, but just put a load through and the new trap is still doing the same thing. When I looked at the old trap, I realized that the metal rods have wires attached to the back - I think they might be the heat sensor? The issue is that the metal of the heat sensor is not seated properly in the plastic, and it creates a gap where things catch. I like the dryer a lot except for this major flaw. I would like to keep this dryer if this issue can be resolved.

Does the job
Our old dryer was sounding sick, so we opted to buy a new one before the old one completely died. Buying new appliances to fit the confines of our older home is always tricky, but we were able to find the one that would fit next to our front loading washer. From time to time, I wash large pieces of bedding such as quilts and blankets. The capacity of this dryer easily accommodated the bulky bedding. At first, my husband and I found the front view of the dryer a bit distracting, as the design always made us believe that the door was open because of the latch being on the top left corner. We are very happy with this product thus far.

Very dissatisfied customer
I am very dissatisfied by this dryer and mystified by the reviews you have posted. The dryer works and the venting is fine but after over an hour, two sheets, 4 pillow cases, two towels and various small underwear for two people are still not at all dry! GE has replaced the thermostat - no change. I have taken delivery of a new machine. No change. Appliance manager suggested turning my house circuit breaker on and off to reset the internal computer of the machine because the probability of reaching two "lemon" appliances is small. The dryer works at about 20% efficiency. I am requesting a new dryer - NOT a GE - but wonder if you had any explanation.

Not like my old one
I owned a GE Gas Dryer for 19 years. Great machine. Loved. It. This one is similar but not the same. It has features I will never use. The only thing I like is that it has knobs like my old one and the handle isn't plastic but built into the door unlike my old one. I needed a 27 inch dryer to fit in a smaller space and my repairman told me the brands not to buy. GE was not one of those so I decided to purchase it. I would recommend it to a friend looking for dryer under certain circumstances. If I could have fixed my old one, I would have but m repairman said no way. 19 years was good service for a dryer. I hope I get just as many years out of this one.

90 minutes to dry towels
Purchased this dryer in October. We have a serviceman coming tomorrow because it takes an average of 90 minutes to dry a load of towels. Lighter weight items take an extended amount of time also. It doesn't get hot! When I open the door to check mid cycle the temperature is only warm. So far we are very disappointed with this purchase.

MULTIPLE FEATURES!
This washer and dryer set is REALY NICE. It has several features that the more expensive washer and dryers don’t have: custom fill with an option to add more water, several timer options to soak clothes, special settings for waterproof items, a “delicates” low heat option on the dryer, “extended tumble” times so your clothes don’t wrinkle, so there’s no rush to get to the dryer to remove them immediately, and I like that the signal on the dryer has a volume control. The dryer also has a sensor to detect moisture in the load and will not stop short of being complete. I can honestly say, the more expensive brand I had before this one, PALES in comparison. They are a superior washer and dryer appliances, especially for the features and cost!

Very disappointed!
Dryer did not work right from the beginning. The first service guy said the dryer needed new door hinges which had to be ordered. Two weeks later the hinges were installed and the dryer wouldn’t work at all. The service guy said the dryer needed a new switch and it would have to be ordered. I expressed my unhappiness as I was getting company over the next two weeks and did not want to go to a laundromat. The store called three hours later and said another service guy had a switch on his truck and they would be back later that day to install it—which they did. The dryer seems to work okay now, but I have no confidence in it. Why does a brand new dryer need new parts from the start?

Dries good, not 5* material, though...
Took the opportunity to replace (upgrade) both my washer & dryer. This dryer is definitely a good purchase. I don't regret it... HOWEVER, on your next model, can you do something about the Lint collector? Lint is everywhere (around the door, inside the lint collector storage, outside the dryer, around the dryer, behind the dryer), it's a mess. I use it 3-4 time a week and i clean the lint tray in between drying cycles to not let it accumulate and vacuum around for the excess. I didn't have to go thru so much work/effort with my last GE dryer that lasted me 14 yrs. Poor design. Good dryer.
