effective yet quieter than most garbage diposals
Hook up is more difficult than anticipated. It requires both electrical and plumbing. I don't know why it is designed for a dish washer to feed into the garbage disposal as well (since the dishwasher didn't need a disposal prior to this), and this was initially an issue because the force of water coming from the dish washer caused it's outlet connection to separate and leak. So that part of the system need to be secured for which the instructions did not address. Our professional installer took care of everything, and the installation cost a lot more than the disposal purchase price. But it works well now and we are happy with it!

Install Review
Just installed the disposall. Everything went Ok. Replaced a 10 yr old GE with the same mounting system and size. Hard getting the old mounting ring loose. Also, as other reviewers stated, it was VERY hard to remove the punch out for the dishwasher. They need another system.
The old and new units were/are installed at a vacation home. The old unit started “freezing” in place due to no use. Difficult to unfreeze because you had to use a broom stick instead of a typical key. This one is the same keyless type but it a newer model and 1/2 ho instead of 1/3. Hopefully it doesn’t develop the same problem. Time will tell.

Easy to install - Great directions
I just installed this garbage disposer. It was very easy to install. The combination of pictures and clearly written directions are much appreciated. We replaced a 20 year old GE unit and hope this one lasts as long. There are brief directions for how to use, and clean the unit. They clearly list the warranty information of one year and how to extend your warranty. It took me about 20 minutes to install. Removing the old unit took more like an hour due to difficulty loosening the sink drain. I found an easy solution by spraying DW 40 on the threads.

Garbage Disposal
I had my original garbage disposal for 10 years but put something in it that caused it to crack the bottom out. I ordered the exact same model and it arrived in four days WOW that was fast with all the Covid 19 issues that it made it here fast. The disposal instructions were very easy to read and disposal installation was extremely easy. This was my first time installing any appliances and I am very impressed with the overall ease of the process. Way to go GE nice job and excellent service.

I was not given a registration card for the garbage disposal. I thought oh I will just crawl down there and look for the serial number to enter on the site and be done with it. It took me 15 minutes of moving in so many directions to get a DECENT photo of the Serial Number because of the IDIOTIC positioning of the sticker separate from the (FRONT FACING EASY) Model number and its a HUGE imposition to a person with a physical disability to try to get to it to register it. PUT THE STICKER ON THE FRONT OF THE PRODUCT not the rear that is facing the WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 Months and blades stop working??
I replaced our GE model that had lasted over 10 years back in late February with this one. Blades stopped spinning on that one and it just hummed. I expected to have this one at least for a while. Same thing has happened just 8 months later. 1 person lives here now and I don’t use it that often or put things that would be too dense in it to easily grind up. So incredibly disappointing GE. Hard earned money literally down the drain.
