I've been working on G-Technology solutions for quite a few years now so when i received the G-Drive Mobile USB 1TB USB 3.0 portable hard drive i really expected it to shine with excellent performance results all across the board.
- Build Quality (Aluminum Enclosure), - Good Performance, - Size, - MAC OS/Time Machine Compatible, - 3 Years Warranty
- Price (For Some), - Performance (Compared To Similar PHDs)
I bought two of these. One had no problems and I loved it. The other had a port that pushed deep into the enclosure when trying to connect a cable. I'm not one to be very patient with weak functionality as a result of flashy aesthetics.
It's easy to use and the lightning bolt connection makes it fast, just what I was looking for
We've purchased at least 15 of these for transporting files around, and they've been fine. You can get a clicking noise if the bus isn't sending enough power, so it might just be that the ports aren't sending enough juice to get the drive to spin up.
USB3 and FW gives lots of flexibility. Bus powered is usually fine. Good build quality for the case.
Not quite as sturdy as the G-drive mini with the full aluminum case, but then it is also smaller. No external power option.
As soon as I get a USB 3.0 card for my computer, I will be delighted with this hard drive.
