The Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR may not knock your socks off like the XF 90mm f/2 R LM WR but it is a capable performer nonetheless. The center quality is just fine at f/1.4 whereas the corners show some softness - emphasized by field curvature.

Fuji users are well-served with prime lenses, with focal lengths available from 14mm to 90mm. The 16mm is an excellent example and is well worth the money, especially for those shooting in low-light thanks to that fast f/1.4 aperture.

When it comes to sharpness and optics, Fujifilm’s Fujinon lenses are right up there, and this f/1.4 wide-angle is no exception. At f/1.4 it’s ideal for astro, while the 35mm equivalent 24mm is great for landscapes, but can also be used for interiors or environmental portraits if that’s your thing.

If you don't mind spending the money, the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 R WR lens will wow you with its f/1.4 design and wide-angle field of view.

Still despite those shortcomings the Fujinon XF 16 mm f/1.4 R WR should be assessed positively. It provides useful images already from the maximum relative aperture, gives you a high resolution level on stopping down and it corrects geometric deformations noticeably better than its rivals; what’s...

too high longitudinal chromatic aberration,, distinct vignetting,, significant coma,, some problems with spherical aberration.

This lens is certainly capable of delivering excellent quality images. When you consider the robust build, weather resistant construction and excellent handling of this lens, the £730 price seems very reasonable indeed.

The Fujifilm XF 16mm F1.4 R WR opffers a winning combination of an effective 24mm focal length, ultra-fast f/1.4 aperture, nine rounded aperture blades for surprisingly good bokeh, and a close focusing distance of 15cm, making it well-suited to both street and reportage photography as well as land-...

This is the best Fujinon lens I own. I now have seven, and each performs well with fantastic Fuji IQ and astonishing colors. What makes the XF 16mm f/1.4 special is: 1) it has macro-like capabilities (really surprising for a wide angle lens), enabling me to capture big blow ups of little things; and...

This is an excellent lens and although quite expensive is worth every penny. Lovely build quality and feels great to operate. It's pretty sharp wide open with only a little softness at the edges and stopped down a little you get sharpness right across the frame.

Reasonably compact and light with great image quality.

I believe that people who love to capture landscape picture fujifilm 16mm f/1.4 XF R WR lens is the best out there. happy to get alot of extra things while purchasing a lens.

APSC systems generally lack high-quality, durable lenses designed to produce best-quality results. Chalk it up to the consumer base: most photographers who demand such refined and expensive tools tend to skip APSC and go for full frame or medium format systems.

Fuji nails it again! This is my sixth Fujinon lens and they just keep getting better and better.

I received this lens today and put it through its paces. Everything the pro reviewers wrote is true. It's a beauty! Nicely balanced, complementing my XT2.

13 February 2019

This lens is as sharp as 10-24mm zoom lens but faster and focus closer (8), a strong built, no distortions, WR lens. It is good for low light or nite photography. Because it is a fast WA lens, it is also good for shallow and high DOF application., such as close up or landscape.

I have FX 23mm 1.4 and 56mm 1.2. This lense is the same top level.

  • +

Super sharp, low distortion, nice bokeh

The aperture ring of the lens I received did not work correctly. It would randomly jump into automatic mode when selecting different apertures. Optically the lens produced beautiful images. However, the lack of consistent aperture control requires that I return this lens.

10 February 2019

Another lens I purchased, based on rave reviews, without thinking through if I really needed it. I love the fast and accurate AF, manual focus ring, and robust weather sealing. The focus in particular is so fast and quiet I was unsure if it actually had found focus. It just nails it.
