Comparable 35mm Focal Length: 35 mm
The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm F1.4 R is a classic wide-angle lens with impeccable sharpness and an f/1.4 aperture.
Sharp from edge to edge at f/1.4. Minimal distortion. Manual focus clutch. Aperture ring.
Lacks stabilization and weather sealing. Pricey.
This wide angle lens for Fuji X series interchangeable lens cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and costs around £780.
The Fujinon XF 23 mm f/1.4 R, tested here by us, must get a really positive assessment. Still the situation is hardly so rosy if you start comparing the price of that lens to the prices of its rivals.
solid casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the frame,, proper correction of lateral chromatic aberration,, slight spherical aberration,, imperceptible distortion,, defocused images pleasing to the eye,, very good work against bright light,, fast...
significant lateral chromatic aberration,, huge vignetting near the maximum relative aperture,, a bit too high coma
The Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 R is a highly attractive addition to the Fujifilm lens lineup. It combines an ultra-large aperture with high quality results. At large aperture settings the center quality is already pretty high whereas the borders/corners are at least on a good level.
Sporting the same field of view as a 35mm lens does on a 35mm camera, this lens should be a popular choice for the wish list of many Fuji X-series camera owners, especially with that fast f/1.4 maximum aperture.
Extremely sharp stopped down, Very good sharpness in the centre at maximum aperture, Lightweight, Useful hyperfocal scale, Excellent build
Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame at maximum aperture as you may expect
AMAZING lens! perfect focal length (35mm on a full frame) for travel and street photography. i use a fuji xt1 and it hardly comes off my camera. images are super sharp!
If you love primes & have a Fuji interchangeable X series camera - buy this lens! Not sure what else you need to know, the XF 23mm f1.4 is awesome.Produces tack sharp & stunning images with no distortion. Not a small lens but feels balanced on the X-T1.
Wonderful lens. Perhaps a little larger than I'd prefer attached to my X-T10, but it's not actually large, and is capable of producing wonderful images, even wide open. If I don't want to carry extra lenses, this is the one I attach most times as the wide-normal 35mm-equivalent focal length is very...
Such a satisfying piece of glass. Results are stunning. On my camera unless I have tripod slung over my shoulder. Even the photos you expect to delete off your sheet a millisecond after pulling the trigger turn out OK. This lens is lethal in the right hands.
Equivalent to approximately 35mm on FF

Excellent in the centre wide open with the edges / corners slightly softer.

Edges / corners catch up rapidly and by f 4 the across the frame performance is very even.
Durable, Great Picture Quality
This is typical of all the Fuji lenses, well made and wonderful picture quality. I now have 14mm, 35mm and 60mm lenses to go along with this and they are all good. This lens is great for travel photography on my Fuji X-T1. It's very sharp, well worth the money.

Great for zone focusing
Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality
A really great optic and a great addition to anyone who enjoys the 35mm equivalent focal range. Sharp, and with "sparkle" in the images, a well rounded lens for the serious photographer.
One of the best Fuji lenses for the X system - very sharp even wide open and a joy to use. Equivalent to 35mm on a FF body.
Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls
Used in conjunction with Fuji's excellent XF18-55mm zoom, the XF23mm (35mm) will certainly spend most time on the camera (X-Pro1). The photographic world now has another top quality manufacturer.
