Comparable 35mm Focal Length: 35 mm
The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 23mm F1.4 R is a classic wide-angle lens with impeccable sharpness and an f/1.4 aperture.
Sharp from edge to edge at f/1.4. Minimal distortion. Manual focus clutch. Aperture ring.
Lacks stabilization and weather sealing. Pricey.
This wide angle lens for Fuji X series interchangeable lens cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture and costs around £780.
With a very even and impressive performance, weather resistance, great handling and high-quality finish it would be hard not to like this Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR lens. The Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR is an ideal standard lens for the range of Fujifilm cameras.
High-quality manufacture, Superb image quality throughout, Fast and silent operation, Convenient aperture ring choice, Weather resistance
Only in Fujifilm fitting, Lens hood provided is screw fit
The Fujifilm XF 35mm F2 R WR offers a classic standard focal length, fast maximum aperture and weather-proofing in a small, discrete package, making it well-suited to street, reportage and low-light photography in any conditions when paired with a similarly weather-proof body.
The Fujinon XF 23 mm f/1.4 R, tested here by us, must get a really positive assessment. Still the situation is hardly so rosy if you start comparing the price of that lens to the prices of its rivals.
solid casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the frame,, proper correction of lateral chromatic aberration,, slight spherical aberration,, imperceptible distortion,, defocused images pleasing to the eye,, very good work against bright light,, fast...
significant lateral chromatic aberration,, huge vignetting near the maximum relative aperture,, a bit too high coma
The Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 R is a highly attractive addition to the Fujifilm lens lineup. It combines an ultra-large aperture with high quality results. At large aperture settings the center quality is already pretty high whereas the borders/corners are at least on a good level.
Sporting the same field of view as a 35mm lens does on a 35mm camera, this lens should be a popular choice for the wish list of many Fuji X-series camera owners, especially with that fast f/1.4 maximum aperture.
Extremely sharp stopped down, Very good sharpness in the centre at maximum aperture, Lightweight, Useful hyperfocal scale, Excellent build
Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame at maximum aperture as you may expect
Build quality is top notch, rings all turn nice, and weather sealing is great for light rain or dust. This lens is small and light and balances well on any Fuji body. The lens hood is reversible and not too large.
Using this with Fuji's XT-2 camera has proven to be a fantastic combo. With it's crop factor, the lens focal length becomes a 35mm, however when shooting video it becomes around 40mm.I won't reiterate what others have said about it, but will say that I've been extremely pleased.
Very sharp and awesome bokehMy go to lens for street photographyGreat lens to learn photography
Bought with XT2, love it. will keep adding more Fuji glass.
A great lens fast focus and oh so sharp
A remarkable standard prime, especially at this price point. It provides a complete WR package when mated to the X-T1. It stays on my camera 80% of the time. Fuji quality is evident in the build quality, and its compact size and lightweight more than offset the somewhat slower lens speed.
Nice sharp lens...pictures are crisp...just what I was hoping for in converting to Fuji. Already looking forward to my next lens....
I purchased this with the XT-1 as a bundle, the lens was free so it was a steal. The lens works great, f2 is more than enough, especially with the great ISO ranges of new cameras these days. It's one of the smaller lenses in the Fuji X lineup, which works great with the smaller Fuji bodies.
This lens it all Fuji claims. I love working with it! A little soft wide open on closeups, but everything else about this lens makes up for the lack of sharpness at f2.
