The Fujifilm GFX 50R brings medium format digital photography down to a more attainable price point than we've seen before, and does so while offering exceptional image quality in a reasonably compact yet well-built body.

Discerning landscape and studio shooters that are on the hunt for the sharpest details they can feast their eyes on.
-
-
Photographers of dynamic or moving subjects who need good continuous autofocus performance, and those looking to shoot video along with stills.
The Fujifilm GFX 50R matches the imaging capabilities of its fraternal twin, the GFX 50S, but is better styled for use outside the studio.

51MP medium format sensor., Rangefinder-style design., Tilting touch LCD., Dust and splash protection., Film Simulation modes., Dual UHS-II slots.

Doesn't balance well with larger lenses., Screen articulation limited to one axis., Autofocus doesn't compete with 35mm cameras.
The Fujifilm GFX 50R is a rangefinder-styled medium format mirrorless camera with 50 Megapixels and a built-in electronic viewfinder. It’s the second GFX body and shares the same sensor as the original 50S, but packs it into a more compact body that’s 145g lighter and 25mm thinner.

We know that some of you are still asking why you would invest in a camera that's slow and is best used for specific things when you can have a full frame that is considerably faster, more versatile, and offers practically the same...
There are several reasons why I shouldn’t like the Fuji GFX 50R. It’s big, heavy and expensive for a start. I’m also not usually a fan of rangefinder-style cameras. But I love the 50R. I like its comparatively simple feature set and slightly more limited menu than most modern high-end cameras.
The GFX 50R won’t be for everyone – even those who can afford it – but if you need to be relatively mobile without compromising on image quality, this deserves to be on your shortlist.

Masses of details in images, Relatively light body, Robust build, Great JPEGs straight out of camera, Two cards slots
-
-
Not the easiest body to handle, No 4K video recording, Small AF lever a little fiddly, EVF can show aliasing with fine details, No sensor-based image stabilisation
The GFX 50R combines so much of what we love about Fujifilm's more established X-series with a sensor that's capable of superb image quality. It might not have the action photographer or videographer in mind, and it requires some serious outlay, but Fujifilm deserves praise for democratizing...

Superb detail and low image noise, Responsive touchscreen, Great build yet lightweight, Relatively affordable for medium format

Underwhelming video specs, Not the easiest body to handle, OIS in only three current lenses, Awkwardly placed USB port
GFX 50R has plenty to offer stills photographers, whether you shoot JPEGs, RAF.RAW files or both, particularly for photographers who shoot on location.
Fujifilm have succeeded in making a medium-format camera that's smaller, lighter, cheaper and easier to use with the release of the GFX 50R. It's not all perfect, but never has medium format photography been quite so accessible.
First of all the image quality from the GFX50R is first class, in particular now the Capture One Pro supports the RAF that makes it very attractive to me since I use multiple cameras systems and almost all of them supported by Capture One Pro.
Have used it since Jan 19 as my "go to" camera for practically all occasions
Had this camera for a couple of years and it's my best camera
Quite simply it is the camera I have been waiting for, an affordable medium format camera, high quality and perfectly sized. Cannot fault it, very happy, thank you Fujifilm.
have had the 50R since November 2019, it has been a real joy to use.
It took me a couple of years to make a considered decision to invest in the GFX system and I haven't regretted it yet after 6 months. Loving the larger sensor and ability to produce large prints.
I love this camera. My only issue (and its a big one) is I shoot tethered for 80% of my shots and they have made it very difficult- the USB connection is in the baseplate (not so conveiant when using on a tripod) and the battery does not charge over the connection.
