The Fujifilm GFX100S is the medium format camera that a lot have people have been waiting for. It harnesses the benefits of mirrorless technology and a large sensor in a body small enough to blend in with full-frame DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.
-
+
Superb sensor, Phase detection autofocus system, Small for medium format
-
-
Doesn't have all the traditional exposure controls of the GFX 50S, The eye AF isn't very assured

The Fujifilm GFX 100S is the logical next step in the development of the company's medium format lineup: a 100MP sensor in a single-grip DSLR styled body. But don't mistake predictability for complacency: the GFX 100S is an awful lot of camera.
![]() |
The GFX 100S is Fujifilm’s most compelling digital medium format camera to date, taking the advances of the earlier 100 and squeezing them into a body that’s considerably more compact and less than two thirds the price.
![]() |
The best camera we have tested has come in a more compact version at a lower price.
-
+
Fantastic color reproduction and dynamics. Extreme resolution provides superb sharpness, and image stabilization helps with handheld photography. Professional video quality with external sound recorder. Relatively reasonably priced for a medium format camera.
-
-
Moderate shooting rate and follow focus. Lower resolved viewfinder than GFX100.
![]() |
Thanks to a more compact body without compromising on sensor resolution or in-body image stabilization, the new Fujifilm GFX 100S has even more going for it than its predecessor. And that includes its price.
-
+
More compact and affordable, 102MP images, Snappy AF performance, Improved image stabilization
-
-
Still heavy for long handheld use, 8-way joystick takes getting used to
![]() |
It’s difficult to evaluate a camera like the GFX 100S on the whole, because it’s really designed for specific jobs that require high resolution, like studio, artistic or landscape shooting. However, cameras aren’t reviewed, or purchased in a vacuum.

For those looking for ultra-high-resolution images, the Fujifilm GFX100S gives excellent results, in a relatively compact and portable camera body, being similar in size to a full-frame DSLR, and the IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilisation) helps keep shots steady, so you can use the camera like any other...
-
+
IBIS system makes it possible to treat it like a normal camera, Excellent price for a 102mp medium format camera, 102mp medium-format sensor, Excellent image quality possible with little effort, Great dynamic range
-
-
Some small buttons for the size of the camera, Focus not as rapid as other cameras, Multi-shot mode is difficult to use, No included external charger
![]() |
The Fujifilm GFX100S weighs just 900g without a lens, making it a full 500g lighter than the GFX100 . The body itself is trimmer, too, thanks to the removal of the GFX100’s built-in vertical battery grip.
-
+
Compact and lightweight for its class, Excellent medium-format sensor, AF and IBIS make it easy to use, Half the price of the GFX100
-
-
It’s still very expensive, No battery grip available
Fujifilm’s latest medium-format monster brings 102MP in a body the size of a full-frame DSLR. Andy Westlake puts it to the test.
-
+
Absolutely superb image quality, Relatively compact body for a medium format camera, Impressively effective in-body image stabilisation, Class-leading in-camera colour processing, Quiet, discreet shutter, Large, clear viewfinder and excellent dual-tilt screen
-
-
Continuous shooting and autofocus can’t match full-frame peers, Tiny exposure compensation button
![]() |
Image quality is beyond belief. Menu takes time to get used to. Navigation button is my only dislike, it's difficult to use
-
+
Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight

For a Medium Format 102 MP camera, it feels like and reacts more like a full frame. Shutter mech is quieter than the GFX50 models and the IBIS is superb. If you have used Fujifilm cameras before, you won't really need to read the manual as its all very familiar.

This is the very best of all FujiFilm has learned so far. Issues I had with GFX100 all solved. Image stabilisation is immense. 63mm 1/15s, f4, ISO 100, handheld SHARP... 1/15th of a second!!!
-
+
Amazing IQ, Excellent stabilisation, Fast, Feels great in hand, Lightweight

None that I've found

Traded up all my Canon gear for the X-T4 and now the GFX 100S & WOW!!... Fantastic GFX resolution as expected, If this is what you are considering and don't mind the weight of the 32-64 100-200 lens go for it.

102 megapixel camera
![]() |
Although it is a high-resolution medium-format camera, it is simple and easy to operate, just like a 135-frame camera. According to my personal experience, it is suitable for photography of almost all subjects.

A genuinely enjoyable camera to use. Electronic shutter feels very smooth, image stabilisation is excellent (especially with a lens with IOS).For me the camera feels very comfortable to hold, I've held it with a 45-100 lens attached (around 2 Kg.

Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Has character, Simple Controls

I use this camera solely for shooting landscapes & love the compactness along with the reduced weight compared to my previous GFX50S. My main reason for the upgrade was to take advantage of the 100 MP sensor as l quite often crop to panoramic format.
