When Fitbit announced the $329.95 Sense last month, it was being hyped as the company’s most-thorough health tracking device yet. With new features in the form of stress management (with electrodermal activity monitoring), skin temperature, oxygen saturation while you sleep, and an upcoming Food and...

  • +

Sleek design, Bright, colorful screen, Intuitive interface, A ton of granular metrics, including SpO2, heart rate variability, breath rate, skin temp, and EDA, Nice integration with mindfulness training

  • -

Lots of bugs and performance hiccups, Solid-state button is fiddly, Some things just don’t feel as fully integrated as they could be, Battery life is cut in half if you turn the display to always-on mode

In the era before modern smartwatches, Fitbit's name became synonymous with wearable fitness trackers. Full-fledged smartwatches have become the norm as consumers have demanded more and more from wearables, and Fitbit stepped in with the Ionic and Versa smartwatches a few years ago.

DisplayIt's sharp enough, gets bright outdoors, and Fitbit does a good job of hiding the bezels., Meaningful Fitbit OS improvementsMore reliable notifications, better shortcuts, always-on display, and more., BatteryThe Sense lasts the better part of a week (without always-on display).

  • -

SensorsThe EDA and SpO2 sensors are annoying to use, and I don't know that I believe the numbers., MusicMusic storage only with Deezer and Pandora Plus, controlling playback on a phone requires extra steps., The "solid state" buttonIt's so much less easy to use than a real button.

It's been three years since I first tested the Fibit Ionic and while it was a solid fitness watch, it didn't do well with consistently functioning as a GPS sports watch. For the past couple of weeks I've been testing Fitbit's latest watch with GPS, the Fitbit Sense .

  • +

Superb fit, finish, and design, Bright and clear AMOLED display, Lightweight and comfortable for 24/7 wear, Extensive health tracking capability, Smart alarm, Various health scores for understanding progress

  • -

No support for offline Spotify music, Basic data for exercise tracking, Swipes on the display don't always register, Solid state button is not as reliable as a physical button

The Fitbit Sense is a big leap forward as a health watch, one that produces a lot of data but perhaps fewer insights. It’s the right device for these strange times. If you’re comfortable with that approach, then there’s a lot to like here.

Health data galore, Stress and mindfulness, We love temperature tracking

Software kinks aside, the Fitbit Sense is a great smartwatch at a solid price.

Sometimes frustrating app, Battery life could be better, Charging cable is too short

The Fitbit Sense is the flagship device in the Fitbit range, the top device from one of the top names in wearables – and we've had one strapped to our wrist for the past couple of weeks to try and figure out whether or not it's worth the US$299.95 that you'll have to pay to get hold of one.

The Versa helped Fitbit reverse its fortunes after a long, gradual slide. The company was slow to embrace the smartwatch, and stumbled somewhat out of the gate with the Ionic. But the Versa found a perfect sweet spot that build atop generations of wearable health knowhow, key acquisitions like...

There’s no question Fitbit has packed in ‘all the sensors’ to the Fitbit Sense. The challenge is whether or not all that data is usable and actionable. And at this point I’m just not seeing that occurring yet.

I bought my first Sense a couple of months ago and love it! I've been a Fitbit fan for a while, now. I had an Ion before, but the Sense is a little bit sleeker and not so bulky. I did scope out the reviews pinning the Sense up against the Apple watch and found them both to be similar in features.

Very easy to set up. The GPS activated very quickly, the extra health monitoring options are useful, the core stats on watch are a great extra so one doesn’t have to look at the phone if one wants a quick review...etc. per my wife.

I like the look of the Sense. I don't like that it doesn't show your battery life. I had a day where it would track my steps then drop down to 2,623 steps everytime I would sync my sense. Not sure if it worked itself out after 24hrs or if it was fixed on fitbits end.

I had a Fitbit, then changed to a Galaxy smart watch. I'm back with a Fitbit now, and couldn't be more pleased. Everything about it is exactly in line with how I need to use it. It's super easy to use, and the battery lasts for days!

Bought this a few weeks ago. Love the watch, it is better than a versa 2 but still has similar features. Now the band I like that it helps it stay on but I don't like it because when washing your hands water gets under and stays where it clasps on and irritates the skin.

I mainly bought this as an upgrade to the Inspire HR I purchased from The Exchange earlier in the year. The feature I most like and is most helpful for me is sleep monitoring. I actually believe that my sleep habits have improved because of this.

If you're looking for a wearable that does everything your smartphone can do you need to look elsewhere. This is not the ideal interface for that. But if you're looking for a superior health and fitness wearable then this is for you.

I have had my sense for 2 months. I have loved it, the sleek designed and new features of the watch are awesome. But this last 4 days I have had to charge my battery 3 times. It hardly will last a charge for 24 hours.

While the Sense may not do everything the Apple Watch does, it is still a very good smart watch at a better price. It IS better at health and Fitness information than Apple Watch in my opinion and is “dressier” too. It’s extremely comfortable and the battery life can’t be matched
