Those researching new projectors may be reticent seeing 1920 x 1080 imaging panels on the Home Cinema 4010 . That is understandable, and likely a message Epson's marketing department has clearly received. However, the "don't judge a book by its cover" rule wholly applies here.
Each Ultra HD projector I receive becomes more difficult to part with and the Epson Home Cinema 4010 is no exception. I enjoyed my all-too-brief time with it and am sorry to see it go. If you’re looking for a sub-$2000 Ultra HD projector, you’ll have a hard time beating it. Highly Recommended.

Bright contrasty SDR and HDR images, Excellent out-of-box accuracy, Tons of features, Full DCI-P3 color support, Responsive to signal and mode changes

Automatic switching of picture modes between HDR and SDR, A manual iris for better control of contrast and output
he Epson 4010’s near-perfect color, good contrast, and wide array of setup features make it a strong under-$2,000 projector option.

Extended color, Good brightness and contrast, Great value

Blacks could be better, High fan noise with picture optimized for HDR
Choosing between the 4010 and 5050UB is surprisingly straightforward thanks to their sharing so many features. Setup considerations are virtually identical for both. They deliver similar brightness for both 2D and 3D, so they can both light up essentially the same range of screen sizes in any given...
From a design perspective, generating HD content from projected light can be tough. It’s considerably more difficult than generating high resolution content on smartphones or televisions. With your phone, increased resolution is simply a matter of cramming more pixels into a smaller space.
With its large zoom range and lens shifts; powered zoom, shift, and focus; and memory storage to make CIH setups easy, the Epson Home Cinema 4010 delivers lots more features than the BenQ HT3550 for not much more money. That makes it at least arguably the better value.
To sum up the findings, there are three key takeaways from our shoot-out: In the final analysis, then, I can't come to any conclusion that's radically different from what Evan arrived at when he faced off the 5040 with the 4000, the 4010's predecessor, other than to perhaps place higher value on the...
Here are some key takeaways from our comparison of the Epson Home Cinema 4010 and Optoma UHD51A: There's a $300 price differential today between the Optoma UHD51A ($1,699) and Epson Home Cinema 4010 ($1,999). That's about an 18% premium.
It may not be native 4K, but with images this clean, contrast-y and colorful it’s hard to argue with this massive projectors cinematic prowess.

Not 'true' 4K, No wireless control, No HLG HDR playback, Massive size
This is the first projector I've ever purchased, and for the most part I'm very pleased with it. The picture is crisp, it's easy to operate, the throw length is incredible, and the menus are straightforward. We use it for movies and regular TV viewing and it's performed like a champ.
I am pretty happy with this projector so far. This is my first projector so I do not a large basis of comparison but it is plenty bright and plenty sharp for my room that has ambient light. I project a 135 inch image.

Much brighter and better picture than my older Optoma HD projector. However, more difficult to setup to actually get 4K UHD signal than anticipated. If you're not very technically astute, you probably haven't anticipated the extra money you'll spend on high speed HDMI cable (if your cable exceeds...
I had a 9 year old Panasonic PT-AE3000U that had served me well but was developing problems. I was not ready for what 9 years of technological development had achieved. The Epson is sitting 18 feet from a 120 inch screen with a gain of 1.0.
Only had this a short time, but so far I'm completely satisfied. Mounted it on the ceiling in the theater room (be warned, it is heavy at over 24 lbs). Set up was simple enough, image is amazing. Overall, very pleased with this item and would recommend.
This is our fiirst Epson projector, and we are not disappointed. The projected picture has great color, amazing depth, and very rich blacks. It runs silently. The lens cover automatically closes on shut down, protecting the glass.
Purchased this as a replacement for my Epson 3010e. Amazed at the more vivid colors, darker black levels, and improved image quality this projector has!
Media room environment that includes - Mac Mini, Apple 4K TV, Sony UHD player, TV tuner, B&O turn table, Marantz separates, 11.2 speaker system and Epson HT4010 projector.
I upgraded from a 10 year old Epson Home Cinema 8350 and what a change! Very happy with the 4010. I love that the vents and intake are no longer on the back and that it has the automatic lens shield.
