10 cu ft Freezer
We don’t keep a lot of frozen food, but enough so that the freezer section in our refrigerator is full. Additionally we had a space in our laundry / hobby room that a smaller size upright freezer would fit. The 10.1 cu ft Danby was one of the few freezers we found that fit our need. Having never heard of the brand we were a bit hesitant to buy it until we learned that it was made in Canada. The fit and finish of the freezer is very good and it keeps our food frozen. If the need arose we would not hesitate to buy another Danby product.

Great Small Freezer
The Danby 10.1 cubic upright freezer is surprising spacious. I downsized from a 17.4 cubic freezer and was able to get most of my contents into this freezer. It runs quiet. The freezer is a better fit for 2 people who like to cook from scratch and purchase bulk items when on sale. I prefer the upright freezer design because it allows you to see what you have at a glance. Make sure to write down the Model and Serial number from the back panel before putting into place. So far very happy with the freezer.

Good Freezer for Single Person
I have only had my freezer for a few days but I'm extremely pleased with it. The temperature got cold so fast that I was able to use it the same day. This is a great size for me as a single person. I like to cook larger amounts and freeze them in one-meal portions. Then I can just take out what I want for one meal and heat it up and still have a good home-cooked meal. Great for me because I like to work in my yard and can come in and have a good meal in a short amount of time. I highly recommend this freezer.

Look for your Serial number before placing freezer!
When I went to register my freezer with Danby I was surprised to find out that the Serial and Model number tag was at the bottom of the unit in the back, on the motor. I had to move the freezer to access it. The tag was not put on well and I had to press on the tag to attach firmly. . Would have been easier if the tag was on the door edge.
Freezer does not have a light.
Freezer did cool down well after initial resting period.

A Real Champion this is!
The first thing we did with this freezer is fill it with ICE CREAM!!! It looks smaller that our chest freezer, but it holds almost as much and it's so easy to see what we have on each shelf. It accommodates all the different package sizes, boxes, and trays that were in the chest freezer, so it was easy to transfer. OK, it's not ALL ice cream, but certainly a lot! And it's cold enough on the medium setting.

I’m disappointed with how this frost issue was handled. Despite following the instructions provided, frost keeps building up far more quickly than it should. It affects performance and requires constant scraping or defrosting, which is frustrating and time-consuming. The product works okay otherwise, but the frost problem makes it hard to recommend unless you’re prepared for regular maintenance.

Upright 10 cubic freezer
Bought freezer in July 2024. Has been plugged in for about 2 weeks and working great. Downsized from a 20 cubic upright and so far no problems and plenty of room. Used to buy half sides of beef and needed large freezer.Dont need the really large size anymore and this is great. Temperature in freezer set at 4 and thermometer shows 5 degrees inside. Very happy with purchase at this time.

Constantly requires defrosting
I really wanted to love this freezer. It was the perfect size for our needs and priced reasonably. Guess I knew better than to buy a manual defrost freezer but didn't expect it to need defrosting as frequently as it does. Truly fed up with it, and just want it out of my house now. Will never, ever buy a manual defrost again. Plus side, freezes quickly. Minus side, so much frost!
